Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale

LONE STONE FARMS

Welcome to Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale. We so look forward to hosting you in our sale facility here on the farm. Our fellow consignors show up with their cattle a couple days ahead of the sale to settle them in nicely. We couldn’t continue to run this sale without our fellow breeders. We really have a lot of respect for them and for their cattle. It’s sure nice to see cattlemen getting paid a higher price for their calves this fall. Looks like there is plenty of feed reserves as well. Certainly makes the future look bright for cattle producers. Lone Stone Farms is delighted to offer females to you out of our working herd sires, from both the Simmental and Red Angus breeds. There are some that may not realize, but we have been raising Red Angus since 1987. The fullblood Simmentals were brought in, in 1970. Each breed comprises one half of the herd. Please feel free to join us on sale day or stop in ahead of time and check out the girls. If you can’t attend in person, you can bid online with DLMS or contact any of the sales staff. - Lonnie & Karen

Consignors Lone Stone Farms

Welcome from

Transcon Livestock Welcome to Lone Stone Farms Annual Invitational Female Sale! This annual sale has truly become a must attend event for anyone seeking high-quality Simmental and Red Angus bred heifers. The hospitality is second-to-none in one of the most family-friendly sales facilities in the nation. Thanks in advance to Lonnie, Karen, Nathan and Alisha for hosting this great event! Lone Stone Farms always feature a couple of their best polled heifers, but this year, I believe, the features are truly elite! They have a great pair of polled Cashmere heifers to lead the catalogue, possibly a couple of the best they have ever sold! The group of heifers is strong with some variety in type, and I would venture to say there’s something for everyone. If you are searching for Red Angus heifers, pay close attention in this group. In my mind, there is always great value and quality in the pen. I always tell myself that if I were to start a Red Angus herd, this would be my first stop. I admire the commitment by the Browns to sell off the top in both breeds year after year. Troy and Melanie of Diamond T Simmentals alway bring a set of heifers that create quite a stir, and it will be no different this year. This is the only sale you will get the opportunity to source a Diamond T female! KSL Simmentals travel down from Beaverlodge with a mix of age in their heifers. Keagan and Brad will have a sampling of both calving programs along with some special extra aged heifers. They operate a large commercial herd along with the purebred cattle. They understand what it takes to make the business work. Swantewitt Simmentals annually bring a strong set of females that are raised in ranch conditions. I’m always impressed by how these heifers progress over the summer and into fall. Dwajo Angus has a solid group of heifers again this year. This is a hard working family raising hard working cattle. The Emerys are heavily involved in the business and have one of the strongest bull sales in northern Alberta. Plan to attend the 2022 Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale at the farm in Westlock. This is a great group of breeders to work with, and I know you will be extremely happy that you attended! If you are unable to attend in person, give the Transcon Team a call! We are always happy to assist you.

LO N E STONE FARMS Full Fleckvieh. Sire Verified. Hetero Polled. Non dilutor. Leading off our heifer sale this year is Ruby 18J, a pure gem of an individual. We only have two Juggernaut females in the herd and they have they meshed well with Cashmere. Ruby has a tremendous spring of rib and a great big hip. Just an ideal shape phenotypically. Locomotion wise, she strides out freely on a great foot. I love her little splash of red at the top of her polled head, an identifying marker for me. You will go a long ways to find a polled female with as much power as Ruby has. Exposed to RWR Sully 9E – 1211279 Mar 22 - May 25 Preg checked safe to Jan 22/23.

LONE STONE MS JUGGY 93D DAM OF LOT 1

Full Fleckvieh. Sire Verified. Hetero Polled. Non dilutor. This heifer was a hard decision to let go to the sale. She goes back to a heifer we bought back in 2016 from Amy Peters, Big Sky Bobby Jo 300B. She had a beautiful Laredo calf that spring and since then both cows are now two of the most productive cows in our herd. Both have given us top end calves every year. Since we have kept females in the past it was time to let one go. Joceline 16J is the definition of power. With a very easy going personality she has amazing feet and looks like she will have a great udder just like her dam and grand-dam. She is soggy made and walks around the pen with ease. Oh and the cherry on top is that she is polled. When we bought Cashmere these are the types of females we were hoping to get and this breeding did not disappoint.

Welcome back to the Lone Stone Invitational female sale! Once again we are so excited and thankful to be part of this wonderful group of people and offer some of our top bred heifers. When we picked heifers to sell last fall in this sale, we really focused on picking ones from cow families that we love and have similar females to in our herd already. It was a struggle as they are all heifers we would happily keep but we decided to offer some of our very best ones that are a true representation of our herd. You’ll find a variety of horned and polled females in our offering. This year we bred all of our heifers to our homegrown sire, Swantewitt Haiti 40H, who has a great calving ease EPD and comes from calving ease lines on the dam and sire sides. It’s our first year using him so we are looking forwards to his calves. There is one heifer on offer not bred to him as she is his sister. All heifers are on a full vaccine and deworming program having received Express 5, Presponse HM, Covexin, and their first dose of scour guard. They have also received a pour on Bovimectin for parasites.

We decided to offer this beautiful female in the sale this year to share the Carlsberg genetics. Gerd has really struggled with this as he would love to keep her. She’s a classic Carlsberg daughter with all that thickness and muscle. The Carlsberg cows’ we have in our herd always milk fabulous and produce the top calves each year. They do no lack for muscle and also have good dispositions. This combination is truly one of our best! She’s bred to our homegrown heifer bull, Haiti, with a calving ease of 14.1. Haiti is a combination of easy calving on both sides of his pedigree as well as still lots of muscle and milk. We are excited to see how his calves turn out. We feel so fortunate to be invited back every year by our wonderful hosts and friends, The Browns. Their friendship and commitment to the cattle industry pushes us to do better and continually learn and grow. We feel so lucky to have them in our lives and to be a part of this wonderful line up of consignors. This year’s offering is our largest to date and we couldn’t be more excited. Our cow herd seems to be growing exponentially and it seems fitting to start to sell larger groups of females. This group of heifers is a great representation of our herd with heifers from each according calving programs. January born and bred as well as may born and bred, as well as 3 extra age may/June born females we held open to breed for January calving. The extra age heifers allow us to showcase some of the excellent breeding we have done in our may program while still suiting most purebred operations calving in January. We are also excited to include a nice sample of heifers from the red and black side of our operation as well. Making the Lone Stone Invitational a One-Stop-Shop for industry leading Fullblood, Red and Black Simmental as well as Red Angus genetics in Northern Alberta!!! A female going back to the original Big Sky Bailey, a polled CEN Laredo cow who has done wonders for us. 26J’s dam is a polled Big Sky Bubba cow that works her butt off, she has one of the standout powerful JNR Bullseye calves in the bull pen that will be one of the most exciting calves for us to showcase this spring. Pearl Pearl Pearl!! I’m not sure how I was able to pry pearl out of Brads tight grasp and into the sale but here she is. 41J has been catching our eye since birth, her hair coat always shines, and you can pick her out from anywhere. Not just because of her unique colour pattern but because she has all the goods to back it up. Smooth polled, deep sided, big hipped and wide topped she takes after her granddam Marble who has been a farm favourite. We lost Marble last fall due to injury, but she was one we all took a liking too. Bred way along to Jesse James her calf will be one to watch. Julianna isn’t the first female from this cow family to grace the “ring” or screen I should say at Lone Stone. The first year we took part in the sale we sold a maternal sister to 46J’s dam, a blueprint daughter to Dead Horse Creek. This cow family just doesn’t miss, it doesn’t matter what way we breed these females they knock it out of the park every time. The Regina cow is fulfilling all expectations and we love building her cow family. 46J is smooth up front and explodes with shape from the shoulders back. I have no doubt this female will be a big-time producer much like her Sonic dam and Regio granddam. Exposed to KSL PLD Jesse James 49J - P1381057 March 21, 2022 to April 30, 2022

We never, and I mean never thought we’d be selling a JNR Exxon female as we only had the pleasure of walking Exxon for a year before losing him. But they are just too good not to share. Jewel was such a fitting name for this heifer as she is just that, a rare Jewel!! Her LNK Envoy dam is a direct daughter of our Legendary RJRS 450P cow, who is the Matriarch of almost all of Brads Big Sky cow families. She still roams the pastures at KSL at the ripe age of 20, grazing anywhere from the lawn to mostly beside the barn or around the yard, strictly out of respect for everything she has done for our herd. Longevity, proven cow family, and almost every other box gets checked when it comes to Jewel, a sale feature no doubt!! Exposed to Keets Ferrous 26F - P1240796 March 21, 2022 to April 30, 2022

The heavy pigment and kind soft face you will notice immediately on Judith is one of our favourite things about her. She has always been the first to come over to check you out through the fence or around a corner since a calf. She is moderate made and as thick as she is tall, round and sound and low to the ground as they say. She has the typical long neck extension and front end the Ferrous females are known for which is so important keeping these cattle extremely sound, while also giving them the ability to calve unassisted. 71J’s natural thickness and small well tucked udder is much like her Bacardi Gold dam.

Jovie is dark cherry red, with beautiful full-face pigment and a stunning smooth polled head. Backed by without a doubt the biggest cow to walk to the pastures at KSL, Big Sky Conquer. She was an absolute powerhouse of a fleckvieh cow while still maintaining a picture-perfect tight udder, which she passed on down the line to all her daughters. 85J is the youngest January heifer in the offer of ours and she sure would not show it, she is bred early to Jesse James, and had the fancy feminine look from a very young age. She is everything you see in her picture and more, I cannot wait to see the bright future this female has in the industry.
