KuPS turns 100 years old
Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS), the football club of Kuopio, will be celebrating its 100-year journey throughout the year. The KuPS anniversary book, written by author Lasse Lehtinen, was published back in December 2022. KuPS is celebrating its birthday on 16 March, the day marking 100 years since the founding meeting of the club.
“The birthday week is dubbed the ‘Yellow Kuopio Week’. The day of the 100th anniversary will include a formal reception for invited guests and stakeholders. The anniversary year is full of events, such as a pub- lic celebration on the market square, the march of the KuPS community to Väre Areena and the anniversary match of KuPS. All the junior players will celebrate their club during the junior anniversary weeks. In addition, the Kuopio Museum will host a football-themed exhibition, the ‘KuPS 100 years’ fan shirt will be on sale and a drawing competition will be organized for schoolchildren,” says Chair of the Board at KuPS Markku Raatikainen.

Kuopion Palloseura is one of the most successful football clubs in Finland and also one of the pull factors of North Savo. The club is an inseparable part of the Savonian heritage, having moved and touched locals for generations. kups.fi
“Our youngest junior players are only 2–4 years old and they can continue playing all the way through into our representative teams. The club produces team players who have excellent teamwork skills, also in their professional life,” says Raatikainen.
