»Pomurski Sejem« Fair
City Park and Sport Park TŠC
The city park is a place where you can relax and hang out with your friends. It is full of trees and bushes, but you can take a walk on the paved path. There is also a fountain, which serves as a symbol of the river Mura and the importance of the historic significance of the river for this area and the people living here. A children’s playground can be found here and a statue called Kiss, made by the hands of the academic sculptor Metod Ferlic, which is devoted to love and understanding.
The written history of Radgona as a town of fairs reaches back as early as 1401. The first modern fair with today’s name was organized in 1962. The fair hosts a variety of events, from those from a business sphere, to those from a social sphere in the international sense from the fields of agriculture, ecology, hunting and tourism. AGRA, Mednarodni kmetijsko-živilski sejem (the International Fair of Agriculture and Food) takes place on the last weekend in August.

Bridge of Friendship Through centuries the story of Radgona is interwoven with the story of the bridge, which used to connect Gornji and Spodnji Gris, but today serves as a link between two towns, two countries, two languages. The bridge of friendship is a symbol of linking the business and friendship relationships. It is a symbol of finding similarity in difference. Traces of love can be found all over the bridge. Round plates are built into the bridge and they move with the wind, which makes it seem like the whole bridge is submerged in the waving motion, symbolizing the flow of the river Mura.

Red-haired Apolonia was accused of witchcraft in Gornja Radgona in the 18th century. The reason behind it was she cured people and animals with herbs and produced more butter from the same amount of milk than her fellow farmers’ wives. From the Bridge of Friendship she steps into the wine cellar under the romantic cascade and refreshes herself with sparkling wine bubbles and the autochthonous Ranina wine. From the side, she glances at the Spital, the unique building from the 17th century, and the Never Again Memorial Park, a reminder of fights for our country’s independence. She stops in the Alley of the Great, dedicated to famous people from Radgona, ascends to the parish church of St. Peter and continues on her way to the spring of Ivanjševci, where she stops for a while and drinks water rising from her native land, for which, not so long ago, it was said that it was cooked underground by no one else but the witches. In a little while, she comes to Negova, where they welcome her in baroque clothes and, smooth with their words, play “gorska pravda” (an assembly of vassals who cultivated the vineyards) for her. After the visit to the Church of St. Mary, she is reminded of proper behaviour by the wall of shame (pranger).
The restored beautiful castle from the 14th century invites her within its walls. Along the castle wall, she gathers her herbs from among four hundred different kinds in the herbal park. However, it’s time to go back, since a big fair is about to start in the town. She returns on the wine path through Črešnjevci, where Peter Dajnko, who loved words and bees, was born in a typical Pannonian house. She finally catches some breath in Lisjakova struga along the Mura River. There, wild garlic is collected in the spring and fish picnics are prepared in the summer. Since a lady in love never refuses good food, she turns to one of many tourist farms and treats herself to sour soup with buckwheat žganci, black pudding with sauerkraut and kvasenica or prleška gibanica as the evening approaches. Afterwards, she disappears into the night, but the scent of dried apples and aniseed remains in the air for quite a while. Visitors tie ribbons to her walking stick in hope of their wishes for health and love coming true.
