OUR MISSION
Kula’s mission is to make mental health a human right by providing accessible, equitable, affordable mindfulnessbased mental healthcare to marginalized and underserved communities facing trauma, addiction and mental health conditions.
Kula for Karma is a national 501(c)3 organization that is dedicated to making mental health a human right by teaching scientifically-proven mindfulness practices that heal trauma’s impacts and empower marginalized and underserved communities experiencing abuse, neglect, addiction and mental health challenges. Established in 2007 with its founding roots in New York and New Jersey, Kula is headquartered in Rockland County, NY.

We break the barriers to mental healthcare access by meeting people where they are: Schools, hospitals, Pride centers, addiction recovery facilities, domestic and sexual violence shelters, juvenile justice centers, prisons, work readiness and anti-recidivism programs, transitional and group housing, community spaces and more.

Kula fills a critical gap in mental healthcare in America, not only by serving people who are typically left out, but also by teaching a scientifically-proven combination of breath, movement and awareness shown to stabilize the fight or flight response, create new neural pathways, and even change the expression of DNA.

Kula’s clients learn critical tools to address trauma including breathing techniques, yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices that allow them to identify the feelings in their bodies, calm the nervous system and balance emotional dysregulation, soothe anxiety, connect to the safety of the present moment, and rebuild their lives with empowered mental health.
