Build Families
Our goal is to place children in forever families through safe reunification, domestic adoption or foster care. In the meantime, we provide small, family-oriented homes where each child can grow and thrive physically, spiritually and emotionally.
Children First
The children we serve come first. Always. We do for our few what we’d like to do for many. In this way, we can invest deeply in each child who comes to us.
Prepare for the Future
We are committed to ensuring each young person has the knowledge, skills and confidence to become selfsufficient adults. This means we provide personalized, quality education from preschool through college or trade school.
Community Driven
We believe that Zimbabweans know the needs of their country’s children the best. Our local leadership team runs operations, implements initiatives and develops overall strategy, while our stateside team works to secure resources.
Address the Past
We proactively seek to heal the wounds children have experienced through group and individual therapy with an on-staff psychologist. Additionally, we provide all staff with annual trauma training.
family values
Christ-Centered
We introduce each child in our care to a Creator Who has designed them each with unique gifts and endowed them with intrinsic value, regardless of their family circumstances. We respect each child’s choice of belief system, but desire that when they leave us they are well-acquainted with a Father in heaven who will never harm or abandon them.
I am honored to be interacting with the donors, Board of Directors and all stakeholders through my statement. I am also thankful for the commitment & dedication of our staff members for providing incredible care and love for the children placed with us.
2022 was a year of great progress. Our FAMily (Foster Adopt Mentor) is growing, & we have seen a lot of support from the Zimbabwe Department of Social Services, who traditionally focus on institutions and residential care. However, after sharing with them our vision & seeing our success, they have been giving us tremendous support in moving towards focusing on adoption & reunification.
Further, with your help we completed our new School & Family Support Center, a place where vulnerable
students can learn & grow & hopeful adoptive families can soon gather. This includes additional staff housing & a place for families to stay while they visit children they hope to adopt or reunite with. Our school continues to yield excellent results for our students: they are prepared for high school and a successful future!
Kuda Vana is continuing to build our capacity to care for the most vulnerable: more children requiring specialized care and surgery have come through our doors. We are thankful for the ability to care for them.
Thank you for providing for the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe, and for growing the family table with us.
We have always known that the best place for children to be is in family. That is why we decided to help provide a home for vulnerable children in Zimbabwe.
At the time, we were told that living in residential care was unfortunately the only option for children who had been abandoned or orphaned. Cultural norms in Zimbabwe prevent many families from considering adoption outside of family, & international adoption is not typically legal.
But God has showed us time & time again that if we are willing to follow His lead, & His timing, He will always open doors.
2022 saw us successfully place several more children with loving adoptive families & safely reunite more with biological family. We were also able to hire our first “Adoption Advocates”: local adoptive parents who have a heart for sharing this beautiful commitment with others. We are growing the family table!
God is leading us as we continue to expand our model to one that prioritizes placing children in family, not just caring longterm for those left without one.
With your help, Kuda Vana is truly becoming “Not Your Typical Orphanage.” We are so proud of that, & so thankful for you.

what we do - PROGRAMS WITH PURPOSE
Children’s Home
Our thoughtfully built campus provides a safe, familyoriented environment for 50 children ages 0-17 in four family-style group homes and a nursery. Professional staff provide holistic care to ensure each child not just survives but thrives.
Primary School
Our on-campus primary school emotionally and academically prepares our youngest students for a successful secondary experience.
Youth Transition Program
Like any family, it’s our job to equip each child for self-sufficient adulthood. This includes temporary housing, tuition and incomegenerating opportunities for young people ages 18 to 23.
9
Thrive Farming Program
This program provides enhanced nutrition and food security, fosters and develops important life skills for children and staff, and ensures a measure of organizational self-sustainability.
Family Assistance Program
The best place for children to be raised is with their families. We help keep vulnerable families intact through seed and food distribution, medical assistance, and more.
FAM ily (Foster Adopt Mentor) Program
We prioritize safe family reunification. When this isn't possible, we work to connect children in our care with Christian families through domestic fostering, adoption, or mentoring.
10
Redemptive Dance Ministries A NEW PARTNERSHIP
we think introductions are in order
RDM’s Mission is to provide a Christcentered environment to learn the art of dance for the purpose of glorifying God and redeeming dance and the beauty of every human body for His Kingdom. Their local team engages in weekly dance and Bible study classes with kids at Kuda Vana. They also had their first public performance at a local home for the elderly, which was a huge success!
Dance has helped our children thrive.
RDM’s ministry has brought joy, confidence and Jesus to vulnerable children. Dance is already an important part of cultural life in Zimbabwe, and RDM has directed this energy into beautiful expressions of faith and joy through dance. Their weekly visits have facilitated positive local relationships and a healthy way to engage in the community.

who sits at our table? KIDS WHO NEED LOVE
Kuda Vana is committed to providing a safe place for vulnerable children. We are also committed to ensuring families stay intact, & work hard to build families through local adoption, foster care & safe family reunification.
12
why are we expanding our table?
FACT
80% of children living in orphanages have at least one living relative who could care for them if given the right support. Kuda Vana has safely reunited 13 children with biological family in various capacities.
FACT
Children thrive best in families, not institutions. It is also more cost effective to support families in parenting. Kuda Vana subsidizes education costs for several children we have reunited with biological families.
If children leave an orphanage, they won’t get an education
myth
“Orphans” in orphanages have no family
myth
HOME is the only justice FOR THE ORPHAN
Shutting down myth FACT
There is no single solution. Kuda Vana takes a multitiered approach that includes prevention, rescue, rehabilitation and reunification or adoption when possible.
Street youth & other orphanage alumni globally are:
MORE LIKELY TO GO INTO PROSTITUTION
MORE LIKELY TO TAKE THEIR OWN LIFE
MORE LIKELY TO HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD 40x 10x 500x

our commitment & promise
1. SHIFT the MINDSET to make permanent family the primary goal.
2. SHIFT the RESOURCES to safely place children back in family.
Kuda Vana will always provide safe housing for vulnerable children & also transform into an organization pursuing forever families for children.

2022 FINANCIALS
These financials represent the combined work of Kuda Vana Partnership International (a U.S. 501(c)3 and Kuda Vana Partnership Trust (a Zimbabwe organization implementing programs).
We invested heavily in necessary program capital improvements in 2022, including a school/family support center, staff/family housing, and a chapel/community center. Program operating expenses were typical given budgeted growth and hyperinflation in Zimbabwe.
**Kuda Vana Partnership International has specific donors who cover administrative and fundraising costs, allowing 100% of all other gifts to go directly to programs.

family wins KIDS GOING HOME FOREVER
John & Chipo had lost so many babies & they desperately wanted to be parents. This is a difficult road for any couple to walk, but especially in a country where adoption outside of the family is typically not culturally accepted.
John & Chipo began the long process of adoption within the Zimbabwe Social Services system, & even set up a nursery. Their hearts & home were ready, but their arms were still empty.
They reached out to Kuda Vana & expressed their deep desire to adopt a newborn baby. After interviewing & spending time with the couple, it was clear they would make wonderful parents, but at the time there were newborns in the Hope House Nursery, & we had no idea how long they might have to wait. But God knew it wouldn’t be long. He was orchestrating something beautiful.
Just two weeks after John & Chipo contacted us, Social Services brought us a beautiful, one-month baby girl who had been abandoned. She was immediately given the medical care she needed & held constantly. In the meantime, we let the couple know about this sweet girl – & they immediately said YES they’d like to be her parents!
After just a week in the Hope House Nursery & with the blessing of Social Services, this sweet baby was placed in the loving arms of her new mother & father & given the opportunity to bond right away. The scene was one of happy, joyful tears while they cradled their new daughter, & our caregivers surrounded the new parents with their own arms of love.
Adoption in Zimbabwe, & most anywhere, NEVER happens this quickly: but God knew this baby needed to bond with her new family immediately, & He knew just where to bring her to make it happen with your support.
Safely reunifying
children in our care with biological family is a priority: and with research and sleuthing our team have managed to reunify 13 children with family in various capacities!
Sabelo* is a special young man who was brought to Kuda Vana by Social Services as an infant. We were told at the time he had no family who could care for him. Sabelo had severely malformed legs and required several surgeries, but over time he became one of the fasted runners
on our campus! At 13, he is a sensitive, smart young man with a quick smile and a warm hug who loves to invent and tinker with things.
Two years ago, our team located members of Sabelo’s extended family who tragically had no idea that he had even existed. Sabelo was overjoyed to learn about his family, and after many phone calls and visits went home to live with his aunt, uncle, sister, and cousin.
Sabelo is doing well with the transition and says he is enjoying every moment with his family.
Our team frequently follows up with children who have been placed back in family. A thorough assessment is made to ensure each child’s safety using a nationally used evaluation tool.
