Message from the Executive Vice President
I am delighted to provide this introduction to Khalifa University’s Fact Book for 2020-2021.
Now, four years on since the official merging of Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, and The Petroleum Institute, into one comprehensive university, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, we have firmly established ourselves as an institute of research and academic excellence in the region and wider world.
Despite the global pandemic, we enhanced our academic areas through new initiatives and programs in research and education in Academic Year 2020-2021 Several of these efforts reflect KU’s commitment to global collaboration and engagement and to providing the UAE with a stream of talented scientists, engineers, researchers and leaders, who can support the country’s knowledge-economy transformation
In Academic Year 2020-2021, a total of 14 undergraduate degrees were offered, including four in the College of Arts and Sciences and ten in the College of Engineering. All eligible programs have received ABET accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC).
On the graduate level, 19 degree options were offered by the university in 2020-2021, including two Master’s degrees and one doctoral degree in the College of Arts and Sciences, 14 Master’s degrees and one doctoral degree in the College of Engineering, as well as one Doctor of Medicine in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
With new doctoral degrees launched in the College of Arts and Sciences in 2021-2022, including four PhD programs in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences, we are pleased to further enhance our ability to provide KU students with a unique interdisciplinary environment in order to produce world leaders and innovators capable of tackling realworld challenges
