For over an hour on October shared governance and ON campus 17th, Greenstein responded to questions from an Alumni Auditorium audience of about 40 APSCUF-KU members, as well as the local campus union presidents Ray Dunkle of AFSCME and Frances Cortez-Funk of SCUPA. Greenstein and I had a follow-up telephone call in which he expressed his appreciation for the chance to speak directly with faculty and an interest in continuing the conversation. He is willing to meet again at KU to help facilitate progress, and I am already working with the Chancellor's Office to plan for his next visit.
Contract Ratification Shortly after the Statewide Legislative Assembly, an agreement in principle on a new contract was announced. In the weeks since, State APSCUF President Ken Mash has visited Kutztown University twice, once to address our Representative Council and a second time to speak to a general membership meeting, presenting at each an outline of what to expect in the new contract. The negotiations committee--which includes me and the other chapter presidents-has voted to forward the tentative agreement with an affirmative recommendation for a vote by the legislative assembly. The ratification vote of our entire membership is currently scheduled for mid-November. If you haven’t already done so, please update your access to the APSCUF members-only website, which will provide you access to the tentative agreement.
