President’s Message Generosity. It can be difficult to measure sometimes. But not always.

In the last two months, we have received more than 300 items for Afghan refugees. This includes FINISH READING ON PG. 2 clothing items, a stroller, and many other household goods to help those who suddenly were forced to leave their homes in Afghanistan with nothing. In addition to these hundreds of items, we received $500 in cash donations. As an Army brat growing up, I moved often with my family to new places. I remember the feeling of dislocation, especially as I grew older. But what I experienced is nothing compared to what these families are experiencing. When I had to move, I was moving to a new place where I knew the language, attending a school that was similar to my previous one. My parents not only maintained their status but improved it, as each move was associated with a promotion. These families from Afghanistan have arrived here, in a completely unfamiliar environment, with nothing from the lives they have known. The generosity of all of us, our faculty, is truly incredible. The families we have helped with these contributions will feel the effect both immediately and in the long term. Thank you all again for your incredible generosity. Have a wonderful holiday.

President, APSCUF-KU
