Honoring the Legacy of Our Alumni Honoring the Legacy of Our Alumni

The Martin J. Walsh Alumni Award recognizes and honors individuals who have overcome significant hurdles due to substance use and/or mental health disorders. By celebrating stories like these, this annual tradition aims to show people that recovery is possible, and there is hope.

Gosnold is proud to recognize Corey Grier as the 2025 Martin J. Walsh Alumni Award recipient. Corey’s story is one of surrender, perseverance, and extraordinary service to others. He entered Gosnold for detox on June 23, 2003, at a time when addiction to alcohol, opioids, and other substances had taken hold of his life. Immersed in a punk rock lifestyle and facing the loss of steady work due to his behavior, Corey reached a turning point—and Gosnold helped save his life.

Committed to recovery, Corey embraced sobriety and became active in Alcoholics Anonymous, building a foundation rooted in accountability and service. In his early sobriety, he worked with individuals with developmental disabilities before taking on a role as a case manager with the Boston Public Health Commission’s Homeless Services Bureau in 2004. Over the next two decades, Corey dedicated his career to serving Boston’s most vulnerable populations, rising to the position of Director of Strategic Planning and Partnerships. Throughout his 20+ years of service, Corey has helped thousands of individuals access care, stability, and hope, while maintaining his own sobriety.

When the bridge to the Long Island Shelter closed, Corey worked tirelessly to ensure there was no interruption in services for those who depended on them, exemplifying leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment. His journey from patient to public servant is a powerful testament to the life-changing impact of recovery. Gosnold is honored to present Corey Grier with this prestigious award and to celebrate the profound difference he continues to make every day.

“Together, we are shaping a stronger future for those we serve.”

Dear Friend,

As we reflect on the past year, Gosnold remains deeply committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care while continuing to grow our presence across the communities we serve. The dedication of our staff, along with the generosity of supporters like you, has been essential to sustaining our mission and strengthening the foundation of care we provide.

At the core of our work is a continued focus on evidence-based, comprehensive treatment for individuals facing substance use disorders and mental health challenges. Even as the healthcare landscape continues to shift, our priority has remained the same: ensuring that every person who comes to Gosnold receives respectful, effective, and individualized care.

Over the past year, we have also worked to deepen our community connections and broaden access to services. Through partnerships, outreach efforts, and thoughtful expansion, we are reaching more individuals and families and increasing awareness of the resources available to support recovery and long-term wellness.

From a financial perspective, we are navigating a complex and evolving healthcare environment. While certain funding opportunities have changed, the support of our donors has become more important than ever. Philanthropic contributions play a vital role in allowing Gosnold to meet growing demand, sustain essential programs, and invest in the future of care.

We are excited to prepare for the opening of a new Gosnold facility in Wareham in 2026, expanding access to care and strengthening our impact across the region. This important step forward in our mission will allow us to better serve individuals and families, and we are energized by the opportunities and community impact this new location will bring.

While challenges remain, we are entering the year ahead with optimism, resilience, and a clear vision for growth. With the continued dedication of our team and the generosity of our supporters, Gosnold is well positioned to expand our reach and ensure that high-quality care remains accessible to those who need it most.

I extend my sincere gratitude to every member of the Gosnold community, our staff, volunteers, donors, and partners. Your commitment continues to make a profound difference in countless lives. Together, we are shaping a stronger future for recovery, healing, and hope.

With much gratitude,
