ENHANCING THE GIRNAR MOUNTAIN'S ATTRACTIVENESS

ABSTRACT This thesis titled ‘adventure resort’ examines the relationship between build and nature. My personal interest with the mother nature and the opportunity to acquire knowledge from it has inspired this design thesis. To design a space that allows an individual to experience intense connection with the adjoining environment.

This project tries to scrutinise how architecture can create a spaces that promote a better manner of living. This project also extracts the ideas from the neighborhood.

Role of built environment in nature is deeply considered through live and remote case study both. This provides me the solid data for the formulation of initial design concepts and area statement. To create luxurious appearance of living, site was chosen accordingly into the lap of nature.

Improving our vacations Why resorts are a good value for your vacation.

Luxurious stay Most of these resorts offer numerous luxurious provisions to its customers. To enjoy your stay is the only thing that you’ll need to consider after you are done booking your resort. These resorts make sure that their customers are experiencing the most comfortable stay, and they will leave no stone unturned to provide you with royal treatment. It’s a stay t for a king even though if it just for a short time.

Security Resorts have to take these security measures to make sure that you enjoy your stay at their place rather than worrying about your belongings or having paranoid sleepless nights.

2.2 What is Resort?

A place to which people frequently or generally go for relaxation or pleasure, especially one providing rest and recreation facilities for vacationers: a popular winter resort. Habitual or general going, as to a place or person.

Any place or places with pleasant environment and atmosphere conducive to comfort , healthful relaxation and rest , offering food , sleeping accommodation and recreational facilities to the public for a fee .

2.3 Evolution Of Resort?

Resorts have been a feature of travel and tourism for a long time. The origin of resorts can be traced back to roman times when the concept of public baths and restorative mineral springs took roots. Ÿ gradually, such bath houses or spas began to provide accommodation

for guests, and they became atriums surrounded by recreational and sporting amenities, restaurants, rooms, and shops. Ÿ as a concept, the popularity of resorts has been on the rise, as they

adapted to changing situations and circumstances as time progressed. Ÿ today's resorts have adjusted to new tastes and themes - for example

resorts that cater to a destination wedding - and newer and enticing resort concepts are being developed especially for the urban crowds that yearn for a change from their daily lives, but still want the comforts they are accustomed to. Ÿ these constants often represent continuations of the original model

developed by the romans, and it is these constants that have helped to maintain the resort as a particularly sustainable form of tourism product 100 BC and activity.

2.5 Activities Offered at a Resort While the types of activities a resort offers is dependent mostly on its location, inland resort hotels or hotels in rural surroundings, isolated from business and local users, need to create their own individual amenities and activities. Here are a few popular activities a resort offers:

When it comes to country side resorts, the choice of activities they offer depends on what their clientele is. Country resorts are usually combined with club facilities for wider marketing. Many of them also provide conference facilities, wedding facilities, spas and banquet halls for functions. These resorts usually also offer swimming pools, health and tness facilities.

The primary objective of a resort is to offer recreation and a place to unwind, where travellers can relax and enjoy things that they like to do.

What kind of activities a resort offers ultimately depends upon the geographic location of the resort and the demographics of the visitors.

make a choice that best suits their needs and budget. Ÿ hotels, guest accommodation, self-catering and serviced

Project Details Ÿ The cottages are planned according to vastu-shastra and also house a

mezzanine oor for additional space in an innovative manner. Ÿ These cottage are made environment-friendly and climate responsive

with the use of natural materials. The respective areas inside the cottages are justied with multi-purpose furniture and contemporary facilities offered in a traditional way. Ÿ

the southwestern United States. Ÿ In the context of this spectacular desert landscape of

canyons, mesas, ledges, and gorges, the modernist Suites of Amangiri welcome visitors to one of the world's most dramatic secluded settings.

Project Details Ÿ on the edge of gir lion sanctuary, lies the gir vihar - home to 20 cottages;

designed by village-based architect himanshu patel from “d6thd” design studio with overt principle of vernacular architecture in mind. Ÿ the concern for climate as well as economic and cultural sustainability

has been looked to incorporate into design without which sustainability may not work in the indian context. Rather spending millions on the best technology to create the greenest of green building when very few indians can associate with them and even fewer can afford, architect have come up with simple, established and honest practice offered by vernacular architecture.

Facilities And Activities EntryAs one enters the site, one is welcomed with a distant eye pleasing view of various plays of geometries and volumes but ambiguity and uncertainty hold one’s hand until one walks to a more distinguished reception area which is covered with dome and vibrantly glows with the rays of light from the skylight above.

DinningCentrally placed restaurant block on the site is designed to be the most exible and comfortable to all. The central spiral stone pillar supporting the hexagonal roof acts as a pivot for the entire site wherein all activities smoothly ow around the block. The large brick arches of the dining hall interestingly frame the scenes of the exteriors and the extended outdoor seating sensitively blurs the boundaries of open and built.

SurroundingsThe free-owing spaces and the uninterrupted movements all minutely add up to create a drama wherein visitors’ inquisitiveness urges them to experience something unique and unexplored step by step.

villages, with a more haphazard arrangement that fringes a series of meandering streets. The integration of built structures, natural landscape and the working farm is seamless and organic; not only blurred but enmeshed”. Ÿ the double-storey kothis follow a similar vernacular to those in the local

villages whereby a handful of locally sourced and crafted materials have been combined such as sandstone, limestone, plantation teak and stucco. Ÿ “they wanted the property to feel as though it could have been here for

Project Details Ÿ resort have redened the concept of travel and luxury. The architects

created a bold yet responsive settlement that both honors and celebrates the magic and mystery of southern utah’s majestic cliffs and rock formations. Ÿ “our aim,” says zecha, “was to build something that was a contemporary

interpretation of native indian architecture. Not perfectly adapted, but hopefully generating a sense and spirit of it. Also, that it would respect the natural environment, this was the most important aspect of the whole development.” Ÿ in designing the space, we wanted to provide an experience that was

authentic, not one that simply appropriated cultural attributes and made them our own, but rather one that brought out the best in the site and area, such as the landscape and the light it receives.

here are some considerations that will help me prioritize potential sites to t my vision. Ÿ visibility l views l access

a destination begins to erode the number of guests willing to make the journey. I need to weigh the magnetism of the site with the ease of access to it. “location is key” Ÿ alternatively, consider whether i can make the arrival so unique that an

extended trip time is part of the experience. “ memory created!” Ÿ provision of amenities also plays into location selection. A property that is

isolated and distant requires a development program and budget that includes restaurants, sports, activities, and all of the elements that will keep my users fullled, on site. Ÿ consider the advantages and disadvantages of each possible location.

Because the site is close to the main road so it will easy to reach resort. And this road connecting junagadh and gir.

The location allows you to disconnect from city life and enjoy more privacy and solitude in nature.

WEAKNESS This area doesn't have a signicant impact on public transportation options.

There is a 27-kilometer distance between the resort and the nearest airport.

OPPORTUNITIES Sports and trekking to be developed along with resort on the site with long back age available.

Good returns on capital expenditure may open up the opportunity for building new revenue streams or new business chain development.

THREATS Because the property is adjacent to a jungle, there will be a smattering of wild animals.

Ÿ after the conceptual stage it comes to design evolution. By giving lines

and planes to my initial ideas, i dened the volume of different enclosures. It helped me to maintain strong directional qualities of functions within whole site. It also helped me to understand the transition between spaces and horizontal and vertical circulation across the site.

Chapter_ CONCLUSION

While the topic of adventure resort, is especially relevant as we become further isolated in overpopulated urban area, and lose conversation with our Mother Nature.

By intervening this project at lap of the Gir Jungle, can be set for other resorts to better the hospitality industry.

Designing a set of soothing landscape elements and accommodation facilities will patrons back to the environment.

This thesis project has the potential to inform other facilities in this area in terms of design and landscape planning. Also individual may attract by better properties within the Gir Jungle area. It helps to grow economic conditions of nearby locals.
