On the weekend of 19 September, police confiscated drugs worth morethan R500 000 in Maokeng, Kroonstad Two men were arrested for dealing in drugs Dagga with a street value of R500 000, plus an undisclosed amountof money was found at houses in Maokeng by members of the Maokeng Crime Prevention unit in cooperation with theSasolburg Public Order Police (POP) task team. Authorities received information from the community about houses in Maokeng, where dagga was reportedly sold On Friday, 16 Septemberatabout19:20,they followed up on these reports and found a 49 year old foreign national with bags containing dagga worth an estimated street value of

R500 000 and an additional undisclosed amount of money The man was arrested and authorities were lead to anotherhouseinSeeisovillefor further investigations Dagga worth R30 000 and an undisclosed amount of money was recovered A 24 year old man was arrested, who then allegedly tried to bribe police members who aided in the arrest He will bechargedwith bribery and dealing with drugs. Both suspects were expected to appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court

World Bone Marrow Donor Day

Inthelastthreedecades, the SA Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) has travelled almost six times to the moon and back to collect blood stem cells from all four corners of the globe for SouthAfricanpatientsin need of a transplant These precious stem cells help rebuild a patient's immune system working as a curefornumerousblood cancers In the lead up to World Marrow Donor Day celebrated on Saturday, 17 September, theSABMRhaslaunched an outof this world campaign, which would see an actual star being

named after a lucky donor once the registry reaches its target of 100 000 donor registrations.JaneWard, Deputy Director of the SABMR says they consider each one of their almost 80 000 existing donors as stars "We are intimately connected with the universe even our bodies are said to have been made of many of the same elements that stars are made of which is why we thoughtit apt to namea star after a donor once we hit the 100 000 mark. The figure is significant as it

symbolises the odds of finding a match

Currently,thechancesof finding a tissue match are around 1 in 100 000." To date, the SABMR has saved the lives of more than 600 South African patients However, only 25% of these donors have come from SA Wardsayswhennolocal matches are found, they have to look abroad, which takes time and can become costly "Our patients don't have the luxury of time They suffer from life threatening illnesses such as leukemia, lymphoma, aplastic

INGREDIENTS:

10 chicken drumsticks

5 tablespoons butter

BasicChicken Rub:

2 teaspoons paprika

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Easy Baked Chicken Drumsticks

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Preheat oven to400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 4 sided baking sheetwith nonstickspray. Line up drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet.

• Stir all listed seasonings togetherina small mixing bowl. Sprinkle in an even layer over the chicken. Rub onand underneathskin (optional).

• Put a 1/2 tablespoondabbutteron thetop of each drumstick, on thepart thatis most meaty. The butter will melt all over themeat andskin, keeping the meat juicy, and making the skin crispy.

• Bake for 25 30 minutes in the ovenuntil chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
