MEETTHEPCN COORDINATOR
"The process of PCN from the previous year (PCN 35) left me feeling motivated and in amazement, and as a result, I wanted to give it a try myself. Because I have such a genuine passion and devotion for the traditional dances and culture of the Philippines, my objective was to run for this position in order to fulfill that passion and commitment. When I was younger, I made it a point to join any and all clubs and organizations that celebrated Filipino culture in some way. My role as president of the Filipino club in my hometown of Stockton, provided me with the opportunity to gain experience in the management of big groups of people. At this club, we organized our very own friendship game and put on performances of traditional Filipino dances. Since that moment, I've had a strong desire to become involved in organizations similar to it. I believe that becoming closer with everyone on board was the most interesting and memorable aspect of PCN. In particular, growing my relationship with Alii, the PCN Dance Coordinator. One of the many benefits of taking on the role of PCN Coordinator was the opportunity to meet new people and cultivate meaningful relationships with many of them. In addition to this, being able to have the opportunity to expand my knowledge of Filipino culture and Filipino traditional dances."
MEETTHEPCN DANCECOORDINATOR
"The thought of me becoming PCN Dance Coordinator never crossed my mind until the last PCN Dance Coordinator, Tricia Pintal, joked about me being the next PCN Dance Coordinator. I realized that PCN had a special place in my heart and I wanted to recreate that feeling for everyone else. I had such an amazing experience during PCN 35, such as meeting my boyfriend during Cariñosa. Performing is my passion and I'm so glad that this position allowed me to share my passion with others as well as broaden my knowledge of Filipino traditional dances and Filipino culture. It makes me really happy to see people with different experiences with Filipino culture come together as one to be a part of this production. It is especially rewarding to watch many of these people get close to one another. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to meet so many amazing individuals throughout this season. I am so proud of each and every person who participated in this PCN. I am beyond thankful that this PCN gave me an opportunity to get closer to our PCN Coordinator, Hannah Alba. Thank you so much for supporting our organization and I hope you enjoy the show!"

MEETTHEPRESIDENT OFSPRING
2023BOARD
This semester as President has been a fever dream for me. I did not think I would be up here if you asked me last year, but I am glad I got this opportunity. It is truly with great joy and honor to be the Spring 23’ President! In terms of PCN, I couldn’t be more proud of everyone here because they make my time here worthwhile even with all the headaches that everyone gave me. Thank you to everyone for participating or attending in this PCN. I love you all and I hope you enjoyed this entire process and show! To me, it was all worth it at the end!

Sa Kabila means...
Sa Kabila means "on the other side" in Tagalog. We chose sa kabila because we wanted this play to show the other side of the Philippines. We focused on real-life problems. By showing how difficult poverty is in the Philippines, which is often overlooked in favor of the more beautiful parts of the country.

Originating from the Kalinga tribe, the Idaw (meaning bird), is a dance that depicts the hunting ritual performed before a tribal war. The tribes men would go out and look up and watch for the scared Idaw bird, which was believed to bring the omen of war.
Kadal Tahu, also considered the “True Dance of the T’boli,” is a story about a flock of sister birds who left to look for food and ended up getting lost. During the journey, one of the sisters injures her leg and is unable to fly. With her flock by her side, motivating her and supporting her, she was able to fly again and they were able to get home safely. This dramatic dance is performed during their planting and harvesting seasons and depicts the movements of an injured bird among its flock.
Katsudoratan portrays a royal manner of "walking" among the Maranao people who live mainly around Lake Lanao. Ladies of the royal court perform this stately dance in preparation for an important event. The bright colors and flowing handkerchiefs add to
SINAKIKI
Maria Clara Suite
Dance Captains: Jonathan Andres & Alii Gaffud
The Sinakiki is a lively and playful dance from Rapu-Rapu, Albay. Located in south-eastern Luzon, it is performed during the island's colorful fiestas. In this dance, the actions of a courting rooster and his evasive ladylove are mimicked.
TINIKLING
Rural Suite
Dance Captains: Coralin Pacleb, Miguel Jaen Vergel de Dios, John Guico & Ashley Smith
The literal translation of Tinikling is, “tikling-like” and references to the tikling bird of the Philippines. Tinikling originated during the Spanish colonial era in Visayas on the island of Leyte. During Spanish colonial times, they used bamboo traps in order to capture tikling birds while they tried to avoid them. The dance imitates this motion by using two large bamboo poles in which people tap in synchronized beats while two more dancers skillfully maneuver in between them.

OURSTORY
WRITTEN BY: HANNAH ALBA, NOAH FABRIQUER & LEANNE MANGILIT
This theatrical performance is going to place an emphasis on the society that exists in the Philippines. A love story involving people from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Because the vast majority of people in the Philippines do not have access to social security, aid for unemployment, or health insurance coverage that are given by the government. The quality of education provided by the public school system is neither outstanding nor even good. And in situations when support from relatives or the government is not easily accessible, the individuals who live there are compelled to rely on either themselves, their own families, or God.
