Registering for Classes

CLASS REGISTRATION

Programs and activities at Kroc Center Hawai‘i are open to everyone. Enrolling for program classes does not require Kroc Center Membership. All class registration will close a week before the start date of the class.

1. Sign-up and pay for most Kroc classes online by visiting bit.ly/kroconlinesales. Some specialty classes are not online and require sign-up in-person at the Member Services Desk. Kroc Dance Academy PreProfessional classes require level testing and placement prior to registration.

2. Or, turn in completed program enrollment form along with payment to the Member Services Desk. If class is full, you will be added to a wait list. Payment will be processed only if space becomes available. Classes are available on a first come, first served basis.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

Full payment is expected at the time of enrollment. No refunds are given unless the program is cancelled by Kroc Center Hawai‘i.

If the program is cancelled by Kroc Center Hawai‘i, you will be refunded in full. Cash payments will be refunded as a check. If you request to cancel your class enrollment five or more days prior to the first class, you will receive a full credit on a Kroc Center gift card minus a $5 processing fee or you may choose to transfer to another session if available. Requests made less than five days prior to the start date are not eligible for a refund or credit, except in the case of personal emergencies.

No credits or pro-rated credits will be issued for missed days of class/program due to illness, partial attendance, behavior issues, or

any other reason.

AUTOPAY POLICY

Auto-pay is on the 1st of each month and is required for select programs.

• Program service fees are not transferable between members and students.

• Monthly services will automatically renew at the start of each month.If payment fails, we'll contact you for an alternative means of payment.

• Payments received on the 7th or after will be charged a $5 late fee.

• Any participant that has unsettled fees will not be allowed to attend the program.

• Automatic payments will be processed in one (1) transaction. Your statement will reflect a charge by “The Salvation Army".

Kroc Members may purchase Guest Passes at a 50% discount. Kroc Member must be present with guests to receive this discounted rate. Limit 5 guest passes per membership plan per visit.

Age Guidelines

For the safety and security of all members, please be aware of the following age guidelines:

• GENERAL FACILITY & AQUATICS • (INCLUDING OPEN SWIM)

• FITNESS AREA • (INCLUDING GROUP FITNESS CLASSES)

Children ages 10 and younger must have an adult (18+) present.

Children ages 11 & up may attend a structured program without an adult.

Children ages 11 and younger not permitted.

Children ages 12–15 are permitted with an adult (18+) present after completing teen orientation.

Children ages 16+ permitted without adult supervision.

Safety Guidelines: Protecting the Mission

The Salvation Army is dedicated to keeping children and vulnerable adults safe from physical, emotional and sexual harm. We refer to our safety efforts as “Protecting The Mission.”

Protecting The Mission guidelines ensure The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center emphasizes safety in the following ways:

• Salvation Army personnel (officers, employees, and volunteers) are trained in child abuse prevention and are mandated reporters of suspected child/vulnerable adult abuse.

• Salvation Army personnel undergo criminal background checks.

• Adults accessing the facility may be screened against public sexual offender registry.

• Instructors are trained in appropriate interactions with Kroc members to enhance learning by creating a safe and inviting environment.

• Programs involving children are closely monitored to ensure adequate supervision and safe interactions between Kroc personnel and children.

• In order to promote a safe and secure environment, The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center has placed video cameras in various locations. As part of our commitment to the safety of children and vulnerable persons, Kroc Center Hawai‘i reserves the right to consult public sources to determine whether any member or guest of any member poses an unreasonable risk of harm to its patrons, staff, or visitors.

• Kroc Center Hawai‘i constantly adapts and enhances safety protocols to adjust to needs.

Members and guests are encouraged to report suspicious behavior. Forms for anonymous reporting, called Confidential Notices of Concern, are available at the Member Services Desk.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center reserves the right to remove from the facility and terminate the membership of any member who fails to comply with any posted rules and regulation or otherwise breaches the Code of Conduct, in which case member will not be entitled to a refund of dues.

**REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 1 WEEK PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF EACH SESSION. SIBLING DISCOUNT DOES NOT APPLY.**

WITHDRAWALS: Cancellations for ALL aquatic programs should be done at least one week prior to the first day of class to be eligible for a refund. A $25 processing fee will be assessed for each refund.

MISSED AND CANCELLED LESSONS: There will be no makeups for missed or cancelled classes.

Email is checked daily and will be answered in the order they are received. Lessons subject to instructor’s availability.

Youth Water Polo

Youth Water Polo is aimed at introducing young athletes to the sport of water polo. The program is designed to enhance physical fitness, teamwork, and strategic thinking while providing a fun and engaging environment for participants aged 6–15. By focusing on fundamental skills, we aim to foster a love for sport and promote an active lifestyle among youth in our community.

Swim Team

To schedule your Swim Team try-out, please email the Aquatics office at programs@kroccenterhawaii.org

Try-outs are required or child must have successfully passed Learn to Swim Level 4. Try-outs are held every 3rd Friday of the month (4–5PM). No try-outs or practices on holidays. Swimmers must pass the Water Competency Sequence (tread 30secs, swim 25yds, tread 30secs again), and assessed on the following strokes: front, back, breast, and butterfly. Then, a recommendation will be given for an LTS level class or an invitation to join swim team.

Autopay is required for Swim Team members — please view Autopay Policy on page 3. 10% discount for Kroc members.

Lifeguard Certification

KROC LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR, AQUATIC CENTER

Learn the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies for pool and water park environments. Participation in all classes is required for the certification. Upon successfully passing all requirements, participants will earn certificates in Lifeguarding Skills, First Aid, & CPR/AED for the professional rescuer. Min. 6; Max. 10

Lifeguard Recertification

KROC LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR, AQUATIC CENTER

The Lifeguarding Recertification course is designed to refresh your knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion, you will renew your certification for another two years.

To participate in the Lifeguarding Recertification class, you must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification that has expired no more than 30 days before the end of the class. Min. 6; Max. 10

Community First Aid & CPR Course

Participants will learn necessary skills to attend to first aid and CPR emergencies. Upon successfully passing all requirements, participants will earn certificates in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Class will be in two parts with an online portion, followed by an in-class skill session. Classes take place every 2nd Saturday of the month. Deadline to register is a week before class starts. Open Sports Court & Hours/Schedule

The Athletic Center has plenty of spacious court space for you to enjoy basketball, volleyball, and more. Open gym is free to members. Current open hours are listed on the Class & Facility Schedule available online at www.kroccenterhawaii.org. Hours subject to change.

Zero Tolerance Policy

The Kroc has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY—NO CUSSING OR FIGHTING. Players who do so will be dismissed immediately from the Athletic Center and be asked NOT to return until the next day. Kroc Center Hawai‘i memberships can and will be revoked if deemed necessary by the Member Services Team.

Pickup Game Policy

PICKLEBALL (AGES 14+)

All participants must check in at the Athletics kiosk before playing. This is an independent session; players should create their own rotation. If participants are unable to do so, gym attendants will create a waitlist for teams of 2. Limited equipment will be provided; participants are welcome to bring their own paddles. Games are to 11 win by 2.

BASKETBALL & VOLLEYBALL (AGES 14+)

Must be 14 years or older to play. Signups for pickup start at 6:30pm at the Athletics kiosk. Players must be present, sign up themselves, and in line to be on the list. No holding spots for others. Gym attendants will ensure signups follow the list in succession — no skipping spots or teams. The next team on the list will be on the side of the court keeping score.

BASKETBALL

Teams of 5 will be created by the sign-up sheet. Games are to 12 by 1’s and 2’s or highest score with a 12-min time limit (subject to change). Players will call their own fouls and ref their own games. No shooting free throws, as fouls will be taken out at half court. No shot clock.

VOLLEYBALL

Teams of 6 will be created by the sign-up sheet. Games are to 21, with subject to change to 15. Next team will ref the game by calling serve, net violations, and provide two-line judges and a score keeper.

ROTATION OF TEAMS

To allow everyone the opportunity to compete, the winning team will stay on the court for a maximum of two (2) consecutive games. On their second win, winners must go back on the wait list along with losing team. Two new teams will then enter the court.

Kroc Center Hawai‘i has created club sports that are fun and affordable for athletes in our community that work to compete and meet their highest level of competition. With the high volume of athletes around us, our club teams require tryouts and players must be invited to play on our club teams. Kroc Club Sports require commitment, dedication, and a positive attitude on the court/field, in the classroom, and in the community. Seasons vary depending on the sport.

Girls Volleyball

Established in 2015, Kroc Volleyball Club is a premiere volleyball club in West Oahu. Girls ages 10–16 are welcome to tryout and be a part of the volleyball family! The season typically runs from November to June.

Sensei Ed, a black belt in judo, has been with the Kroc Center Judo club for several years and began leading the club in 2019. Along with his family, Sensei Ed strives to instill the love of Christ and build trust, respect, honor, and integrity through the discipline of Judo.

Sensei Zeth Akau

Sensei Zeth, a black belt and co-leader alongside his father, Sensei Ed, began his judo journey at the age of 5. As a Sensei, he not only teaches judo but also instills valuable life skills and Christian values in each student.

Moanikeala “Fia” Silva

Fia has been a professional Polynesian entertainer for 10 years. Currently, she performs at the Disney resort of Aulani, Germaine's Luau and the Ala Moana Center Stage hula show. Fia is passionate about sharing her experience in hula and the healing power of dance.

Class Descriptions

BALLET: Students learn ballet history, terminology, and steps in this syllabus-based program. Placement classes are required for new students. Students can take recreational classes or qualify for our Pre-Professional track with testing.

CONTEMPORARY: Break away from the classical techniques and move your body unconventionally. This class is all about dancing with joy in your heart.

JAZZ: This class will teach dancers strength, flexibility, conditioning technique, and progressions including turns, kicks, and leaps. Students will learn many fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance.

TAP: Explore the intricate sound production of the classic and rhythmic tap. Improve musicality and learn how to have an ear for all types of music

HIP-HOP: This class infuses the latest styles of street dancing! Students will be encouraged to bring their own individual styles and personality.

LYRICAL: Explore an expressive style of dance that allows the dancer to interpret and express the emotions, lyrics, and story associated with a piece of music.

POM/ACRO: Students will learn fundamental acro skills including forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, back walkovers, and partner acro. We will also cover basic jazz and pom technique.

BALLROOM: In a fusion of fun, we will combine all different types of international ballroom like Che-cha, waltz, foxtrot, as well as Latin ballroom such as salsa and bachata. With a commercial twist, you'll get to learn the basics and use it to advance to new skill levels!

Alecia Hardt

Ms. Alecia began her classical training at 6 and has 36+ years of dance experience in multiple genres. Teaching for 30+ years, Ms. Alecia has developed an extensive syllabus by which Recreational and Pre-Professional students learn.

Carolyn Nixon

Ms. Carolyn began her dance training in New Jersey as a young child, training in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern. She has performed throughout the tri-state area and has 10+ years of teaching experience from beginning toddler to advanced adult.

Erica Diehl

Ms. Erica is an experienced dance teacher who started dancing competitively at age six in Las Vegas. She danced professionally for the United Football League and various productions. Erica’s choreography won state & national titles in pom, jazz, and hip-hop.

Julie Kalt

Ms. Julie began dancing at 4 years old. She has trained in ballet, tap, acro, swing, salsa, but focused on Hip Hop where she danced competitively. Julie has been teaching acro, pom and cheer for the last few years, and is excited to be a part of KDA!

Noelani Schraedl

Ms. Noelani, a Hawaiian native trained in various dance styles, has performed with prestigious companies and taught at various levels. Currently pursuing her MFA at Hollins University, Noelani is dedicated to sharing her love of dance with students of all ages.

• It is recommended that all new members attend the New Member Orientation prior to working out. Please make an appointment with a fitness attendant or Health & Wellness Management. Personal Training services are also available for a fee.

• Youths 12–15 may use the Health & Wellness facility and classes after completing the New Member Orientation with their parents/ guardians. After the orientation, they may utilize equipment and classes with adult supervision.

• Public drop-in access is intended for inclusive recreational use; any external personal or group training/coaching is prohibited. Contact the Rentals Department for specific group requests.

ATTIRE

• Proper workout attire and athletic shoes are required (no jeans, no exposed chest, no open-toed footwear). Sports bras must be covered. Male shirts must cover nipples.

USING EQUIPMENT

• For the health and comfort of all patrons, please wipe down your equipment with provided disinfectant/cleaner after use.

• Guests using equipment in this area do so at their own risk. Please be safety conscious. Use a spotter for all over-head lifts, squats, and any other lifts where you may need assistance.

• Patrons are asked to adhere to a 30-min time limit for each piece of cardiovascular equipment when people are waiting.

• Please allow others to “work-in” on weight equipment between sets (e.g. do not rest on the machines as others may want to use it).

• Collars on weight bars are mandatory at all times.

• Use free weights only in designated areas. Do not bang or drop weights or weight stacks. Return all free weights to their proper location after use.

• Observe proper weight area etiquette and demonstrate courtesy and respect toward others at all times. Concerns or inappropriate behavior should be reported to Kroc Center staff immediately.

• Immediately report injuries or equipment malfunctions to staff.

• Misuse of equipment may result in immediate expulsion from facility.

Desmond, a retired U.S. Army Infantry Officer, now empowers others through fitness, mindset, and purpose-driven routines. A certified NASM-CPT, NASMCNC, and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, he helps clients of all fitness levels build strength from the inside out.

Tom Sekine

Tom, who holds multiple ACE certifications, specializes in tailored programs to strengthen one's core, improve flexibility, and enhance daily activities. His sessions promise improved health and achievement of fitness goals within a committed timeframe.

Patrick Worley

An Army veteran, Patrick enjoys helping others. Through personal training, he inspires others to realize their potential. He empowers clients to take charge of their lives by introducing the connection between physical health and mental well-being.

Moonbeams | Kindergarten

This fun-filled program is for boys and girls. It helps your child explore the world around them and find ways of serving God and others.

Sunbeams | Grades 1–5, Girls Only

Girl get the opportunity to build a solid life foundation through Christian fellowship and educational. Learn important truths and life skills.

Girl Guards | Grades 6–12, Girls Only

Focuses on the spiritual, mental and social needs of girls. Learn teamwork and self-sufficiency while exploring career and life choices.

Adventure Corps | Grades 1–12, Boys Only

Boys get the chance to take part in a variety of exciting activities while working on emblems. Weekly activities help educate and build character.

Life Groups

A Life Group is a small group of 6–10 people getting together weekly in a home, office, or coffee shop. We talk about the sermon, read the Bible, pray for one another, and occasionally eat! This is where friendships are made, encouragement is found, and growth in the Lord happens.
