WHY CHOOSE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB?
Over 90% of Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii youth come from families experiencing financial difficulties. Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii fills a real and dire need in our community.
$25 a year is all it costs for youth memberships, and $10 a year for teen memberships even though it costs Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii $2,400 to serve each child per year. We are committed to keeping costs affordable for our families.

Because every child deserves a bright future, regardless of circumstance.

When you give to the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, you’re not only giving kids the meals, mentors, and meaningful life experiences they need most now, you’re making it possible for them to become the leaders we are counting on to create a better tomorrow.
Mahalo for your support!

YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Since 1947, Youth of the Year (YOY) has been Boys & Girls Club of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club teens. Through their time at the Club, these teens have exemplified the Boys & Girls Club mission and are proof of the impact Clubs make in changing and saving lives. The YOY Celebration takes place at the spectacular Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa.

Candidates who have competed in the YOY Academy and Competition have gone on to GREAT success. YOY is arguably the most impactful and rewarding

Academy Alumni Spotlight
Kody Kobayashi, Lihue Clubhouse
My name is Kody Kobayashi, and I became a member of the Boys & Girls Club in 2012. During my time at the Club, I participated in the Leaders in Training Program, helped organize a suicide awareness color run, and more.
I graduated as a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience from Macalester College and plan to attend medical school. After graduation, I returned to Kauai to work as an Emergency Department Technician at Wilcox Medical Center and volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of Kapaa, giving back to the community that supported my growth.
Without programs like Youth of the Year, I would not be who I am today.

ALL IN FOR GREAT FUTURES DAY
Great Futures is declared as a day of advocacy by the Governor, running through the month of May. Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii is asking the community to be all in for great futures for our youth, by making a donation and then passing along the Great Futures urgent message to friends and family for support.

ALL IN MEANS...
• Make a donation on behalf of yourself or company.
• Get set up with your own fundraising page with a personal link and goal.
• Get your colleagues involved by setting up a workplace activity or competition.
• Spread the word to your friends and family on social media.

I won’t remember all the little things that happened, but I’ll always remember coming to the Club and always feeling that support and stability.

Join Us on Giving Tuesday & Empower Hawaii’s Keiki
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. What began in 2012 as a simple idea, has grown into a worldwide movement, inspiring millions to give back to causes that matter most.
At Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Giving Tuesday is more than just a fundraising day, it’s an opportunity to stand behind our mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential. Every dollar raised on this day goes directly toward creating safe spaces, mentorship, academic support, meals, and life-changing experiences for over 10,000 youth across Oahu and Kauai.
When you choose BGCH on Giving Tuesday, you’re not only helping to shape brighter futures, you’re joining a legacy of aloha, resilience, and hope for Hawaii’s next generation.
Let’s make every Giving Tuesday unforgettable for our keiki, our communities, and the future we’re building together.
Every $1invested in the Boys & Girls Clubs generates $10.26 in lifetime economic benefits

WHAT’S NEXT
Created in 2020, as the pandemic highlighted inequities in the communities BGCH serves, the What’s Next Initiative is a five year cohort based, case management program which takes 8th grade teens and mentors them in cohorts through to on-time graduation from high school with a solid plan for their future. The What’s Next Initiative is built on seven pillars: Academic Readiness, Post-Secondary Option Exploration, Health Education, Self-Discovery, Life Skills, Workforce Development & Preparation, and Motivation. Teens who join What’s Next are identified as at-promise youth who need more resources and encouragement so they may achieve self-efficacy and open their minds to planning for their future.

I want to make sure that what I plan to do after high school is achieveable.

WORKPLACE GIVING MATTERS

Beyond the social good, workplace giving offers various important benefits for companies. In terms of employee engagement, employees are generally happier when working for companies that support generous giving initiatives. This leads to longer tenure among employees, which, in turn, benefits employers by increasing retention rates and saving money on reduced employee turnover.
Apart from internal benefits, companies also maintain a positive public image in the communities in which they operate. Consumers are also more likely to buy products and services from companies that encourage workplace giving.

Include Us in Your Employee Giving Program
Match Donations
Corporate matching gift programs are a form of workplace giving in which companies financially match donations their employees make to nonprofits. When paired with other workplace giving campaigns where employees financially support nonprofits, those donations are essentially doubled.
Offer Volunteer Grants
For employees who might not be able to donate financially, they can still donate their time. Employees who volunteer on a regular basis with a nonprofit can submit a volunteer grant request to their employer. This means BGCH will receive a set amount of money based on the number of hours the employee commits. Get your colleagues involved by setting up a workplace activity or competition.
Participate in Annual Giving
Many companies run seasonal giving campaigns, encouraging employees to set up automatic payroll deductions to give to BGCH, and then matching those donations.

Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii will welcome you as a member of our Great Futures Legacy Society.
The legacy society is composed of forward-thinking donors who have so generously chosen to make their core values known to future generations through one of the many different types of planned gifts —from direct bequests and retirement account distributions to specialized endowment funds.

Legacy gifts can include IRA charitable rollovers, bequests, retirement assets, life insurance policies, or charitable

“I love what the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii does. They reach kids at a critical, formative time after school, keeping them on track for their future and off the streets. When I give to BGCH, I know my gift stays here to support our islands. Plus, by using my required minimum distribution at the beginning of the year for charitable donations, I can maximize tax savings. The mission and concept behind BGCH are truly brilliant, and I’m proud to support it.”
– Bradley Coates
