SOLID WOOD A living material
Solid wood is a living, breathing material, which means that it is influenced by its surrounding climate. Dry environments can cause small movements in the timber, resulting in what may appear to be tiny cracks. However, this is a natural characteristic of the material. To prevent this occurrence and any permanent damage, we recommend keeping your furniture in a climate-controlled area with a humidity level between 25-50%, which will limit the movement of the wood and the risk of cracking.
Each plank of wood used in our furniture is unique in terms of its structure, texture, and colour, as no two trees are identical. Each piece of furniture has a unique set of “fingerprints” so to speak, which is a natural consequence of the different conditions under which trees are grown. We take pride in hand-selecting planks that give our furniture a well-balanced appearance by matching in colour and grain, while also respecting the uniqueness of each piece of solid wood.
A SUSTAINABLE CHOICE
Solid wood furniture is a sustainable choice and with the right care the furniture will last for many decades. It is possible to sand down and oil the furniture to refresh it, repairing smaller scratches and marks left by wear and tear in the process.
MAINTAINING Your solid wood furniture
To ensure that your furniture will continue to stand the test of time, it is important to maintain it correctly. For oiled products, we recommend that you treat it with natural wood oil immediately upon delivery, as the packaging may have absorbed some of the oil during transport.
DAILY CARE
To prevent marks or stains, wipe up any spills or grease immediately. To clean, use a slightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth to ensure that the wood does not absorb any moisture.
EXTENDED CARE (1-3
TIMES ANNUALLY)
We recommend that oiled, lacquered, or soaped furniture is treated with a care product (oil/lacquer/soap) at least twice a year. Depending on the environment and conditions, such as heat, humidity, and sunlight, the furniture may require more frequent treatments to maintain its quality. It is important to treat both sides of the wood evenly to avoid any discrepancies that may cause cracking or movement.
