Recently, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center turned to us to write and design their 2011 Stewardship Report. They challenged us to help convey the human side of giving — to talk about the patients whose lives are transformed and the generous donors who make this healing work possible.
One of the most touching stories came from Joel Rothstein who wanted to honor his wife Maureen’s valiant fight against breast cancer. Mr. Rothstein established a fund that provides wigs to women undergoing chemotherapy. Thanks to that fund, a young woman named Saida Ayala was able to walk down the aisle on her wedding day feeling great and looking beautiful.
Each of the Report's moving stories was matched with highly personal, black-and-white patient portraits by photographer Matt Rainey. The images gave the report a distinctive look and visually captured the strength of these extraordinary people.
