As a dedicated interior design student with four years of immersive studio and professional experience, I am passionate about transforming spaces into harmonious and functional environments. My academic journey has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of design principles, spatial planning, documentation and material selection. Through collaborative projects and handson studio work, I have developed my skills in conceptualizing innovative design solutions and translating them into digital models. With an eye for detail and a passion for making functional, beautiful spaces, I am excited to start my professional journey.
In teams, we were asked to design a living solution for adults with autism at Cultivating Hope Farms, a partnership in Ames, Iowa. We were inspired by the Scottish farmhouse, also known as a croft, in which we created a neighborhood of five homes with a central community space and guest room. Each home’s layout is in the shape of a ‘T’ to help users differentiate public and private spaces and create a natural barrier to the inside of our neighborhood to prevent elopement, a common behavior for individuals with autism. Of the five homes, two are two-bedroom/ two-bathroom, and the remaining three have only one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.

PARKS LIBRARY
The perimeters of this project were to redesign the third floor of the Parks Library located at Iowa State University. As it currently stands, the space needs more versatility and comfortability. Its location near the central campus makes it an accessible space for students to study. My goal through this redesign was to create a comfortable, versatile environment for students, whether they are working there for hours at a time or just stopping by between classes. Providing a productive and motivating environment that fosters collaboration and individual study alike was a main drive throughout the project.

COMMUNITY CIRCLES
Team Project: Caroline Alba, Kierra Jack, and Jordan Krei
During the designing of Community Circles we were assigned the task of re-imagining a community lounge in a dormitory on campus. It needed to be transformed into an inclusive, multi-use community space by envisioning and designing transformative interiors that creatively addressed current and future mental health challenges. The goals of this project included creating a place of restoration and respite for students, as well as creating a space that prioritizes wellness and expands its definition and understanding.
THE CORNER
The Corner was inspired by the Japanese term “ma” which directly translates to “negative space.” A more abstract definition of this term is a pause in time. The goal of this space is to provide respite for students at a time in their lives that is often stress inducing.
COMMONS
INDOOR PATIO
This indoor patio provides natural light for a space that would otherwise have none. The natural light is delivered through circular skylights that connect the space to the courtyard above. The patio serves as a recreational room with games, casual seating, and greenery to further expand on the natural feel of the faux outdoor area.
LAKESIDE GETAWAY
This project took place early on in my time at school. Each student was tasked with creating a space for a celebrity client of my choosing (Zooey Deschanel) that was not only beautiful and serene, but also functional for Zooey and her family. My goal was to create a space with adequate room for family actives in both the indoor and outdoor spaces. I also wanted to incorporate large amounts of natural light to facilitate an environment that would feel relaxing and rejuvenating for the Los Angeles based family to serve as a retreat from city life.

MISCELLANEOUS
PAVILION DESIGN
In this short, four week, studio project we were asked to design a pavilion on the Iowa State University campus. The purpose behind my design was to inspire students through an outdoor collaborative space created by, and for, the students of Iowa State. Not only would this be a place to create, it would also be a canvas for the students and an opportunity for each program to showcase their work. This space is intended to foster creativity, focus, collaboration, and a sense of community through modular workspaces, student art work, and comfortable outdoor seating.
