The concept of NFT might coincide with art copyrights but they did not mean the same. NFT is a unique art that has a unique identification code and is stored in metadata. Many people get confused in believing that they need to purchase the copyright of NFT to claim the ownership. Just because NFTs are represented as assets it is obvious for people to get confused between a real asset and a unique token.

NFT is a digital asset file converted token that people can buy from the NFT marketplaces.

Each NFT has its own unique character which cannot be duplicated or replaced with another digital asset. When an NFT is uploaded on the NFT marketplace it exactly works like the copyright of some art.

Nonetheless, there is no legal law passed for claiming the copyrights on NFTs. When you purchase the NFT from the creator you could claim the ownership but not the copyright. The copyright is still retained by the creator of the NFT collections.

For example, in Canada, the government has extended copyright protection to musical works, literary, dramatic, and artistic.
