Cedar Forest Products started out as a simple lumberyard in 1964 in Polo, Illinois. Located in the middle of rural America with numerous State Parks close by, the owners saw a need for covered picnic areas where people could enjoy outdoor activities. Slowly a line of picnic shelters evolved. By 1988 production was so high that expansion was necessary. A new facility, solely slated for shelter production, was created. After more than 45 years of manufacturing experience, Cedar Forest offers a wide variety of pre-engineered wood and steel structures. Each structure is still designed, engineered, and manufactured in our plant.

CFP offers a variety of structures including timber buildings. We have a variety of standard buildings available, or utilize our design services to match a structure to your organization’s exact needs. Each CFP timber structure starts with a 5-ply Red Western Cedar Timber. Cedar is known for its high resistance to insects, moisture, and fungal elements that are known to shorten the service life of ordinary buildings. All wall components are preassembled and construction-coded to assure a perfect fit, then dismantled and delivered to the job site. All structures include engineered drawings and installation instructions.

A versatile line of shelters and pavilions will meet the needs of any organization. CFP offers optional railings, floor systems, and cupolas, to cedar roof decking, and metal roofs. Whether its octagonal, hexagonal, rectangular, or square, we can accommodate your needs.

Cedar Forest uses glue- laminated Port Orford Cedar Columns, Red Cedar Fascia, and Pine Decking. All connections are made from 100% reclaimed steel, sand blasted, primed, and painted.

CFP’s line of steel shelters are made from 100% reclaimed steel and are manufactured right in the Polo, IL facility. All steel structures are pre-cut, blasted, painted and shipped as a complete package with no on-site welding required.

Our assortment of colors, cupolas, and railing packages assures you will find the perfect complement to any landscape with our products.

Restroom facilities with concession and storage can be essential for a multitude of public areas. CFP has various sizes to suit your organization’s needs and budget. Our restroom facilities are ADA compliant and offer optional electrical and plumbing packages.

Parkaire Activity Center Little league, community parks and day camps across America have clearly chosen this model as Cedar Forest’s most functional recreation building. The Parkaire can serve as staff offices, concession stands, restroom facilities or storage. The open pavilion permits groups to enjoy their natural surroundings. General Wood Specifications Manufacture of glue-laminated timber wood components conform to manufacturing requirements of the American Institute of Timber Construction Standards, “Standard specification for the structural glue-laminate timbers” AITC-117.

Quality Control provided in accordance with ANSI / AITC A-190.1 latest edition. Quality standards shall be AITC, Structural Glue-laminated Timber Construction Inspection Manual AITC-200.

General Steel Specifications Steel panel roof system 24 gauge steel panel and conforms to ASTM A-525, UL90 rated. Panel configuration has a 1 1/4” high trapezoidalshaped major rib, tapering in width from 1” to 3 1/4” at the base. Major ribs on 12” centers. Two additional minor ribs on 4” centers. Panel provides one purlin bearing leg and 36” net coverage. Standard paint system is siliconized modified polyester. Panels attach to steel frame with self-drilling screws per manufacturer’s instructions. Trim is roll-formed steel with matching colors.

Structural steel frame fabricated from structural steel tubing conforming to ASTM A-500. All structural steel members designed in accordance with requirements of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Iron and Steel Institue (AISI).

Welding performed by certified welders in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS), Structural Welding Code - Steel (AWS).

Surface preparation commercial blast cleaning of steel to SSPC-10 near white blast finish. Prime painted with PPG CRE CT epoxy primer custom tinted to closely match finish coat. Finish Paint: PPG acrylic modified alkyd enamel with polyurethane enhancer.

Steel structure roof system is designed using a minimum snow load of 30 psf and a minimum wind load based on a 90 mph wind speed.
