a culmination of Public Safety Week 2023 Pohnpei State Public Information November 24, 2023 Peilapalap, Pohnpei— Pohnpei, witnessed a magical evening as the 3rd Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting ceremony illuminated the town, serving as the grand finale of Public Safety Week 2023. The event was a tremendous success, with the community coming together in full force. Distinguished guests graced the occasion, lending their presence to the festivities. Among them were esteemed figures such as Speaker T.H. Marvin T. Yamaguchi, Vice Speaker T.H. McGarry Miguel, Senators T.H. Ricky Carl, Alfredson Ladore, Stevenson Joseph, Principal Judge T.H. Jackson Smith, Associate Judge T.H. Micheal Nakasone, H.E. Jo Cowley Australian Ambassador, H.E. December 12 runoff election will determine Pohnpei Governor and Lt. Governor races
Voters decisions for Legislature seats finalized By Bill Jaynes The Kaselehlie Press November 14, 2023 Pohnpei—Heinrick Stevenson, Pohnpei’s Election Commissioner has certified the results of the November 12, 2023 election for legislative and executive seats. While the Pohnpei Constitution
requires a runoff election if no candidate received at least 50% plus one vote for the offices of Governor and Lt. Governor it does not have the same requirement for legislative seats. Those seats are settled, however, there will be a runoff election on December 12 for Governor and Lt. Governor.
vote. Stevenson A. Joseph was the next in line with 32.8 percent of the vote. Five people ran for the seat of Lt. Governor with incumbent Francisco L. Ioanis garnering the most votes with 37.77 percent. Brian P. Etscheit followed with 24.47 percent of the vote.
