Message from the President
Dear Members,
As we move through a transformational year at Crag Burn, I want to take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come—and how bright the future looks.
The men’s locker room is officially open, and while a few finishing touches remain, it already reflects the elevated experience we strive to provide our members. It’s been a long journey, but the result is something we can all be proud of.
On the course, tournament season is in full swing, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the incredible job Frank, Nick, and the entire golf staff are doing this season. Their attention to detail and hospitality create a golf experience only Crag Burn can provide.
At the same time, Terrance and the grounds team have navigated heat, humidity, and empty in countless hours to keep the course in fantastic shape. And Cathy continues to ensure a welcoming and seamless experience in the House, with great food and service that make every visit special.
To Cathy, Frank, Terrance, and their teams—thank you. Your hard work and pride in this club are what make Crag Burn so special.
And to our members—thank you for your support, your patience, and your belief in where we’re headed. With the restoration project about to begin and momentum building in every corner of the club, I’m confident that the best of Crag Burn is still ahead.
See you at The Burn,
Jeff Wolniewicz President, Crag Burn Golf Club
Grounds Update
Dear Members,
After three years of planning, collaboration, and preparation, we are thrilled to announce that the Crag Burn Golf Course Restoration Project will officially begin on Monday, August 4th. This marks an exciting new chapter for the Club, and we’re grateful for your support and trust in bringing this vision to life.
Project Overview & Schedule
• Work will begin on August 4th on holes 14 and 15, and we will progress through the back nine first, followed by the front nine. Members can expect additional hole closures every 7-10 days.
• Hole closures will occur daily as crews work on specific areas. Once a hole’s work is complete, it will reopen with a temporary flag placed in the fairway for the remainder of the season. The putting green on each affected hole will remain closed until Spring 2026 to ensure full recovery and optimal playing conditions.
• Daily notices will be sent to members regarding hole closures and construction progress.
• Work is expected to be complete by mid November and the course will open for play as usual in Spring 2026.
Scope of Work
The restoration will restore and enhance the classic character of Crag Burn while improving long-term playability and infrastructure. Key components include:
• Greens expansions on fifteen holes
• Installation of 2” slit drainage in all greens
• New irrigation system around greens and approaches
• Rebuilding all bunkers with Better Billy Bunker liner to restore original aesthetics and improve performance
• Enlarging par-3 tees
• Addition of new back tees on select holes to increase yardage
• Fairway expansions and reductions
• Select cart path improvements
• Earthwork shaping on targeted holes to recapture strategic design intent
Final Thoughts
We understand the temporary inconvenience this work may cause and thank you sincerely for your patience and understanding throughout the project. Thank you to our professional staff in working beside us to ensure there are reciprocals lined up for you to play during this time. This restoration is not just a maintenance effort, it’s a reinvestment in the future of Crag Burn, honoring its heritage while preparing it for decades of premier golf ahead. We can’t wait to reveal the renewed Crag Burn Golf Club next spring. Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards, The Grounds Team
From the Pro Shop
Crag Burn GC had 2 juniors competing in the finals of the International Junior Masters at East Aurora CC last week. In the Championship flight Jack Tebeau finished runner-up and in the Platinum Flight, Enzo Clerici won his flight. Congrats to both for their play.
Please remember to replace divots, repair ball marks and rake bunkers. Keep the championship conditions for those playing behind you.
Bert Nash Results
We would like to congratulate our own David Hanes and his partner Jaret Chipman on their victory in the 2025 Bert Nash Invitational. The two shot a record setting best ball score of 18 under par with a final round score of 9 under 63.
Congratulations to our Senior and Super-Senior champions as well.

These requests that Crag Burn has sent out are unique to clubs in our area, for Crag Burn as a club has not ever received a request of this type due to a restoration project. Crag Burn’s board is very proactive in creating golf opportunities for its membership.
To request one of these courses you need to email the golf staff at cragburngolfshop@gmail.com. Please include the day you are looking to play, a time you would like, and other Crag Burn members you are playing with.
We can only request 30 days or less in advance. These playing opportunities are for Crag Burn Resident Members and no guests’ privileges are offered.
