CARBON FOOTPRINT

When conventional theatres began to be built at the beginning of the 20th century, with “Italian” configurations and as we know them today, the first seats to be installed, after the “bulrush” chairs, were made of steel and wood, with a mechanism for folding the seat by gravity, also made of steel. These were materials that were perfectly differentiated and therefore perfectly recyclable, despite the fact that there was no awareness of the need to recycle materials. Between the 1950s and 1960s, new technologies and the emergence of plastic made it possible to combine materials in the construction of the different elements that make up an armchair, in an effort to modernise the design of armchairs and to industrialise production processes in order to reduce production costs. The ecological awareness that now marks ecological sustainability did not yet exist.

Nowadays it is inconceivable to design products without ecological awareness. A large number of companies manufacture under the concept of “green washing”, but at K+ we are developing and designing all our products under the “Eko developing” concept, which covers each and every one of the processes so that the final product, 100% eco designed, uses recycled materials as far as possible in its manufacture and is recyclable. Going back to the origins, the elements that make up our seats are designed and manufactured as separable elements, which can be truly recycled. All this without renouncing any of the benefits of post-industrialisation, such as costs and product comfort, and always working to reduce the CO2 footprint as much as possible. All our “young” designers start their projects with a briefing that defines what the project will be like, based on the most demanding conditions of ecological sustainability.

The Kotobuki Group has production facilities on 5 continents. This allows us to apply criteria of proximity

in the development, manufacture and installation of our products in a way that minimises all processes that affect pollution levels.
