Welcome To the 30th edition of the Better Beef Bull Sale
This last year has been one to remember with the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Gelbvieh Association, there have been so many great celebrations and events. I do believe it is safe to say that the Canadian beef industry has not only become familiar with Gelbvieh but that as breeders we have all proven the value of the Gelbvieh breed. Unrivalled as the mama cow of the industry and valued for their ability to perform the Gelbvieh influence continues to grow. The interest in the breed from new breeders and young cattleman is very encouraging. Our family has had the pleasure of seeing this growth from the beginning and it seems sureal that this will be our 30th annual sale.
This years offering is nearly all made up of A.I. sired individuals. During their first winter following weaning this calves are not pushed they are backgrounded on a 15% pellet at a rate of 5lbs. and good quality forage. Their second winter the bulls have free choice pellets until a month before the sale. All bulls will have a satisfactory semen test prior to the opening day, all of them are polled and a recent weight is provided.
This year we will again use the Private Treaty Barn sale format (details follow below).
We strive to have a cowherd that works for us not the other way round, these bulls should give you some calving ease individuals, some with more performance but all should produce good footed offspring with very strong maternal qualities. The daughters of these bulls will all be backed by a paternal grandma with a strong udder and a sound foot/leg structure.

SALE FORMAT
We will be using a private treaty/auction style format. February 22, 2023 will be the opening day of our sale. None of the bulls listed will have been sold prior to that date. However, for your convenience you are invited to evaluate the bulls at any time and make your intention to purchase known by placing your name on a board at the sale barn. You may express interest in more than one bull and leave us a preference order. On February 22 at 1:00 pm any bull with more that one interested party will be bid on by those parties until a winning bidder is decided. The bidding will begin at an increment above the cataloged price. To allow for buyers to make additional or alternate selections there will be a short pause between the sale of each bull. Once there are no longer bulls with more than one name beside them they will be sold to that party at the cataloged price. Any bulls not selected on February 22 will remain for sale at the cataloged price on a first come first serve basis.
ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Viewing: The bulls may be viewed at the ranch before the sale, please call Harold at 780-835-0365 to confirm a viewing time.
Semen Testing: All bulls will have a satisfactory semen test conducted by a licenced Veterinarian before sale.
Terms of sale: Terms of sale are cash or cheque, payable sale day unless other arrangements have been made with the seller before the sale. Once satisfactory settlement has been made the animals will be transferred.
Risk and Liability: Everyone who views the bulls or attends the sale does so at their own risk and the owners assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for property or any accidents that may occur.
Pick-up and Handling: We are once again offering a discount for bulls that are picked up in the 24 hrs following the sale of $100.00 off the selling price. All bulls have been inspected by a Veterinarian at semen testing time, they are insurable with most any livestock insurance agent. Bulls left with us until pick-up are solely at the risk of the buyer.
