A State Between Neither Nor A micro-play for Korzo: Memory of a theatre through the ages door Kate Moore
De Australisch-Nederlandse componiste Kate Moore, winnares van de Matthijs Vermeulenprijs 2017, is met haar Herz Ensemble vaste bespeler van Korzo. Voor dit Korzo Magazine componeerde ze een muzikaal ‘micro-play’ waarin het theater zelf de belangrijkste rol speelt.
There is a theatre…in darkness. A shaft of light from the rafters pierces the shadows.
We start. There, here, now is the musician’s cue: Something remembered. Enter stage right: The Other. There is a scene change. A Blackout. A slip of the mind’s eye Behind a velvet curtain. The Stage: A platform of waking hours under the microscope. A microcosm Of push and pull. A spider casts a thread of beginnings, middles and ends; Not one without the other In time and place; A choreography of woven lace. Empathy is the ability to put oneself in the shoes of another. Here the actor enters… You will find A simple wall, Next to which is an exit. Or… As it were, an entrance… A window.
