Our Talented VCE Students
By Rowena Hannan Head of Visual Arts
In November 2021, we celebrated the work of our students in VCE Art, Studio Arts and Visual Communication Design with our annual VCE Art and Design Exhibition. Due to lockdowns and restrictions, our exhibition went virtual using a platform that provided an innovative and engaging way to view artworks in a simulated gallery environment.

We congratulate all the students involved for what they achieved in a challenging year.
The following awards were presented in this exhibition:
Robyn Price Art Acquisition Award In 2018, the Korovian Club inaugurated this award honouring the outstanding contribution by Robyn in her 27 years of teaching Visual Arts at Korowa. Robyn was loved and respected by generations of Korowa students and is passionate about the importance of creative expression in education.
The 2021 award was judged by artist, Deborah Williams, and the recipient was Bethany Jamieson (Class of 2021) for her pen drawing, ‘The Figure’ (featured on the cover). Deborah felt that this drawing demonstrated a powerful sensibility that explored a high level of consideration in visual language and aesthetic deliberation.
Jan Miller Design Acquisition Award In 2021, the Korovian Club inaugurated this award honouring the outstanding contribution of Jan Miller (Kostos, Class of 1960), a much-loved former Art teacher at Korowa from 1960 to 1972, Treasurer of the Korovian Club for many years and volunteer in our Archives and Alumni Office for the past 23 years.
This award was judged by designer and Korovian, Alison Turnbull, (Class of 2006) and was awarded to Olivia Georgakis (Class of 2021) for her extensive design folio that demonstrated a broad range of design skills resulting in a beautiful presentation.
Both prizes are awarded annually for exemplary art and design work. Over time, this will enable the School to build up a representative collection of student art and design work that will not only aesthetically enhance the School environment, but also inspire students in their own pursuit of creative excellence.
Thank you to the people at the Monash Museum of Modern Art who supported us on our virtual journey and enabled this exhibition to occur in their virtual space, and to the Korovian Club for its ongoing generosity.
