PURE C ANADA: PANOR AMA ST YLE 4

Sure, the surroundings are incredible. But once you’ve adjusted to the stunning vistas, there are plenty of other experiences to take in. Up here, there’s more to the mountains. There’s dining to discover, people to meet, tastes to savour and little moments of unexpected adventure to encounter. Here’s just a small sample itinerary of what might happen in

D AY 1 - E V E N I N G A R R I VA L 6 PM / Fireside Dining at Choppers Landing Start off at this welcoming restaurant, in the rk heliski base, situated on a knoll adjacent to the resort. At Choppers Landing, the fire is crackling, the smiles are big and helicopters are dropping off guests from a day spent skiing in the backcountry. This is quintessential Canada. The building boasts broad wooden beams, a roaring fire and hosts a history of epic stories. This restaurant provides an excellent

— 48 HOUR S IN PANOR AMA — D AY 2 - T H E A D V E N T U R E C O N T I N U E S 8 AM / Morning Kickstart Where does one find the finest cuppa jo on the mountain? Why, in Lusti’s Mountain Outfitters & Cappuccino Bar. They’ll craft a variety of deep, dark and delicious hot beverages using locally roasted Kicking Horse Coffee. And remember this spot for later - après espresso or hot chocolate can help light an afternoon up!

10 AM / Best of ‘Get Better’ Panorama is one of North America’s Top 10 resorts with the most vertical. This is a big, epic mountain with a wide variety of terrain. Make the most of your time on the mountain with some wisdom from our Ski & Ride professionals. Take a private session with just you and a coach, or join a regularly scheduled group and have a blast learning to ride Panorama together.

3:30 PM / Ultimate Après Ski This storybook experience begins with a helicopter ride to the resort’s summit at 7,759 ft. (2,365 m). Indulge in traditional cheese and chocolate fondue. For those who don’t fancy a flight, then try the torchlight raclette at the Elkhorn Cabin or the kid-friendly fondue at the Mile 1 Hut.

6 PM / Twilight Snowshoe and S’mores Bundle up for a snowshoe tour under the stars. Then warm up cold toes beside the fire as you roast s’mores, the perfect North American dessert. (Saturdays only).

D AY 3 - L I V I N G T H E M O U N TA I N L I F E 10 AM / Mountain Friends Tour Meet the locals who know every inch of the mountain and are happy to let you in on their secret spots. Free tours run at 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM every day.

1 PM / Mountain Hut Taste Tour Where else does one find a hut-to-hut ski-in dining and tasting tour? Only here. Start with a specialty hot chocolate at the Summit Hut. Then ski to the Elkhorn Cabin for stunning views, alpine raclette, stews and hot wine. Don’t forget to save room for the Mile One Hut’s famous bison burgers and espresso.

5

3 PM / R & R & R Rest, relaxation and retail therapy are grand methods to switch up the pace of the day. Discover locally crafted gifts and hand-blown glass jewellery created on site at Saffire. And then enjoy a spa treatment at Pure Massage.

6 PM / Taste of Pure Canada Head Chef Michael Payne and his culinary team at Monticola put a refreshing spin on mountain cuisine. Situated in the heart of the resort, Monticola provides casual dining, warmth and comfort food. Definitely ask about their signature cocktails and drinks.

The rest of the night

Just head outside. Gaze up at the mountains, the stars and snowflakes. Drink in the moment, and start planning your next Pure Canada adventure.

Then there’s the essential things, the little details. There’s free access to the hot pools for all resort guests. An on-mountain massage and spa, a fitness centre and additional hot tubs at various accommodations.

Don’t miss the world’s longest skating trail on Lake Windermere. It’s a magical winter experience to glide through the Rocky Mountains on a solid natural sheet of ice.

And there’s still more to the mountains… Get revved up on guided snowmobiling tours. Get bounced on the EuroBungy (once you see you’ll understand) in the resort base area. There’s super fun snowshoeing and incredible XC skiing trails. And a free shuttle whisks guests to nearby Invermere in the Columbia Valley. Invermere is an authentic Canadian community full of shops, cafés, stories and characters.

Is it best to soak in the hot pools after skiing? Or after dinner? Or both?

Each tour is unique, and all trips are catered to the first timer or to the seasoned professional. A typical trip sees riders visiting high terrain, an abandoned silver mine, a warm up and snack in an alpine cabin, the opportunity to see mountain wildlife, and free 'play time' in deep powder bowls. This is the perfect mountain outing for families, and simply adds another exceptional dimension to a skiing and riding vacation.

Did you know? Heliski in bounds? Yup! Before Taynton Bowl opened to the public, the area was reserved for epic heliskiing terrain!

M AY B E I T ’ S T H E S TA R S . O R M AY B E I T ’ S T H E M A G I C , C O L O U R I N G T H E N I G H T. Maybe the best part is up top, soaking in 360° of mountains forever. Or maybe it’s the knowing nod on the lift, the one that says “that was one solid run, mate.” Maybe it’s the last-second recovery, the subconscious discovery and remembrance of balance: the miracle turn. Maybe it’s the railed edge, precise and steady and surging across the corduroy. Maybe it’s the first-ever linked turn, the new found freedom, control and confidence of dancing with gravity. Maybe the best part is removing boots after riding. Maybe it’s wiggling toes in the sheets and drifting into downhill dreams. Maybe it’s the first plunge in the hot pools. Maybe it’s the steam rising from skin into the depths of dark winter air. Maybe it’s the meditative meal at the summit. Maybe it’s winding up the road to vacation. The reassuring moment of ‘we’ve arrived,’ when worries leave and breathing becomes easier. Maybe it’s the retreat. Maybe it’s the attack. Maybe it’s the hot kiss of frost on the cheeks. Maybe it’s peaks reflected in the eyes of a child. Maybe it’s the audible silence of new snow arriving. Maybe it’s the sun’s lingering caress well after it’s set. Perhaps it’s the aprés pint (probably). Maybe it’s the shared laughter. The whoops and the hollers. Or the inner glow of one bad-ass throwdown gone right. Maybe it’s the tribal, primal warmth of crackling wood and savoury smoke. Maybe it’s being part of a story of people who belong in the mountains. Who long for the mountains. Maybe it’s the diamond shower from trees shedding snow or the angry hiss of tips through fat flakes. Maybe it’s just the simple connection to something bigger and wilder and purer that makes us feel alive.
