Full Day Rise To Freedom Tour

Four Day Impala Tour

Many South Africans gave much, some gave all, to achieve a truly democratic South Africa. This full day tour shares some of the journey, pain and struggle of those heroes; witness the places, experience the diverse museums where these momentous, tumultuous years have been so well documented.

Starting and ending in Johannesburg, this four day classic tour showcases the highlights of Mpumalanga, including the unique bush experience of a private game lodge as well as the stunning scenery of the Panoramic Route. These tours are operated in smaller luxury vehicles and smaller groups. Travel via historic Dullstroom, Lydenburg and over the Abel Erasmus Pass. Continue via mountainous scenery to the private Game Lodge near Kruger National Park.

The day begins at the Hector Pieterson Museum, where we start to unravel the cause of the devastating riots, before travelling past Mandela House. Your next stop is the fascinating Regina Mondi Church, site of so many of the underground meetings of the then banned political parties. Lunch is enjoyed in a local restaurant before visiting the legendary Apartheid Museum. This is an interactive voyage of discovery, one which takes you from the dark days of ‘whites only’ privilege, through to Nelson Mandela’s historic release.

On day two you will enjoy an early morning bush walk. After breakfast continue to Kruger National Park for game viewing. Day three includes an early morning game drive in Kruger National Park. After breakfast travel the Panorama Route and explore Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck potholes, God’s Window, and various waterfalls. Continue to historic town of Pilgrim’s Rest, Mac Mac waterfalls, and town of Sabie. On day four the tour returns to Johannesburg after a hearty breakfast travelling via Lydenburg, Dullstroom and Witbank. From ZAR 9395

Seven Day Kruger & The Kingdoms

This tour takes you right back to your beginnings, to the exceptional World Heritage Site of The Cradle of Humankind. The superb Maropeng Visitor Centre is truly an exciting, world class exhibition, focusing on the development of humans and our ancestors over the past few million years. Then, you’ll begin the tour above ground at the nearby Sterkfontein Caves where the famous Mrs Ples and Little Foot skull and skeleton were discovered…then go deep and deeper into the caves, so you feel the history and strong sense of identity. It’s a fascinating Centre with superb exhibits.

DAY 1 (Sun) Johannesburg: Transfer from the airport to your hotel. Optional Soweto tour (own account). DAY 2 Pretoria & Mpumalanga: Depart for a short orientation tour in Pretoria, before continuing to Mpumalanga. We travel via many historic towns. Explore the old mining village of Pilgrim’s Rest. DAY 3 Pilgrim’s Rest & the Kruger National Park: Visit God’s Window, a boundless view of forested mountains and fertile plains, and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon. Explore the quaint village of Graskop. DAY 4 A Full Day ‘Big Five’ Game Viewing in Kruger: Set off before breakfast in open safari vehicle in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, and all manner of wondrous wildlife, birds and plants. DAY 5 The Kingdom of Swaziland: Drive to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland, a former British Protection Territory. Experience Swazi cultural experience, visit Swaziland National Museum and the capital Mbabane. DAY 6 The Kingdom of the Zulu’s: Visit the Swazi Candle Factory. Then on into Zululand, passing traditional round huts and endless vistas. Arrive mid afternoon in the Umfolozi area. DAY 7 Durban: Morning cruise on Lake St Lucia before departing for Durban. Hug the lush KwaZulu-Natal coastline en route to Durban, watching the sugar cane fields. Arrival to Durban by lunch (airport/city center).

And then there were lions. You’ll Visit a nearby lion park, home to lions and exquisite cheetah, take the opportunity not only to watch them, but to interact with lion cubs. You’ll love them. From the beginning of civilization, to the rawness of the wild – you’ll have experienced both ends of the spectrum.
