Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers Out of the 140 glaciers flowing from the soaring peaks of New Zealand’s Southern Alps, only two creep as far as the lower rainforests, the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. This phenomenon makes access to these ancient glaciers possible. Guided glacier walks, climbing experiences, heli-hike and scenic flights are available.
Wanaka In Wanaka you can saddle up a horse or strap on the skis and embrace the great outdoors. If that sounds too energetic, slide into a café and absorb the lakeside scenery. Wanaka is also a handy base if you want to hike or climb in Mount Aspiring National Park.
Day 1: Upon arrival in Christchurch, shuttle transfer to your chosen hotel. Day 2: Travel by road through Canterbury Plains. At Springfield, board the TranzAlpine to travel through the Southern Alps to Arthurs Pass. Continue by road into the snowcapped Southern Alps; enjoy lunch at the Wobbly Kea Restaurant Arthurs Pass. The return journey to Christchurch is by road through Arthurs Pass National Park and the high alpine passes. Sheep farm visit with late afternoon tea, sheep shearing and sheep mustering demonstration. Day 3: Choose to extend your stay or your driver will meet you at your hotel today for shuttle coach transfer to the airport.

Aoraki Mount Cook National Park This park is a land of ice and rock. Glaciers cover 40 per cent of its area and there are 19 peaks over 3,000 meters, including New Zealand’s highest mountain Aoraki Mount Cook. Mount Cook Village is a base for climbers and hikers.
