DESIGN ’EMMA SJÖDIN’ was established in 2008, offering a growing range of products in home decoration with a focus on textiles. My ambition is to bring art in to everyday life through interior design products. I take inspiration from the details in plants and bugs such as geraniums, roses, daisies, bumblebees and butterflies. I never render the subject fully, but instead I create my own realty.

My techniques are primarily pencil drawing and watercolour painting and I aim to create products which will withstand the passage of time. The company is situated in Jönköping/Sweden and run by me - Emma Sjödin.

The original comes from one of my own grey scale pencil drawings, which has then been coloured in black, blue and green. I drew this heritage geranium when it was growing ever larger in a north facing window. I was particulary drawn to this plant because of it’s beautiful leaves, which created an interesting dynamic with the stalks and flower buds.

THE WILD ROSE COLLECTION The original for the wild rose is one of my own combined watercolour painting and pencil drawing. It’s of a branch of one of summer’s most beautiful flowers that has just started blossoming. Above the rose flies a bumble bee on it’s way to collect nectar. I chose to paint this plant because of it’s delicate flowers, beautiful flower buds, detailed leaves and thorns.

THE DAISIES COLLECTION The original comes from one of my own combined watercolour painting and pencil drawing. In Sweden, the flower beds are filled with daisies in summertime. Above the flowers fly the beautiful butterflies. I was particulary drawn to this plant because of it’s beautiful bright flowers that contrast with the thin stalks. Even the underside of the daisies and it’s buds have interesting details.
