Equilibrioception - elevation of textures

This is the negative space of the movement of the dowels.

I presented three consecutive moments of time and space and the interconnection amongst them.

Shapes formed by my results of the projection of the ground onto the contour of the shape that the dowels form.

In this project, I examine the role of our senses in mediating our understanding of the built environment.

“WEAVING SYSTEM OF ROOFTOPS�

The NBT theater is a system of ramps and stairs extending infinitely and then cut along the perimeter of our lot. The spatial strategy is perpendicular to the ramp fluidity access program. This structure both gathers the program within it and serves as the structure for the ramps at the same time. These elements lead to the different levels of interaction for the different levels of heights, as well as the widths and angles of ramps.

The street life and nearby community are drawn in the structure in a way where it is weaved into project.

The Program X is an infiltration system, a morphing of programs and works as a flexible space.

The structure is also a system of rooftops; what one sees from the site and into the site, as well as what an indivisual can see into the site from various spaces into space.

The ramps allow for the spactators to choose their ownpath, and look over the processions of programs, through levels of inflitration, and dynamic Floor Plan A interactions of the positions of NBT with the rest of the community.

The spacial sequence guides the flow of the visitors through a journey of layers of “ground” and shifting “datums” including the changing level of the water.

Flow of Water - of ponds and rivers, storm, leachate: Examining the fluid dynamics through a cultural, phenotypic, and multidirectional system and the interface between nature and culture in the scope of its aesthetic, appearence, and performance.

Inspired by the landfill and the way it is [being] fabricated, the structure of the boathouse explores section as an amalgamation of surfaces and spaces of inhabitation.

Experiencial Mapping: represents the most significant moments in the sequence of events from the subway ride to the site and the future boat house, drawing attention to the interplay of what is above and below ground.

Study models: Exploring the visible surfaces, accessible and/ or observable, in contrast to underground and hidden areas.

The program of this space started with the creating of one control tube. the control tube is the main oart of the spatial strategy.

The human body is an active participant. The body weight of the participants/audience are influencing the enclosure of the other tubes.

The two outside tubes open and shut according to the traffic pattern in the control tube.

The mesh provides a theater space for the actors and the audience. The resulting negative space is also used as a performance space.

The movement of the tubes and spatial system are also actors in the performance of the space.

the building consists of two main elements: a rectangular core and a free-flowing oval the core symbolizes the built environment and order while the curve symbolizes nature

Surveillance & Power

The history of senses signified that the eye was repeatedly subject to differing evaluations.

Vision is, until today, the predominant paradigm of cognition, which coincides with the dominance of our visual system. This issue has led to a revilement of subjective vision, as a comprehensive autonomy of perception. Vision, as a privileged sense, consists of a dual structure; connection to reason and control of power, and illumination plus illumination of reality. Therefore, it signifies surveillance.

We see the world from our perspectival vision. Surveillance distorts our special recognition taking into account that one does not see another subject, or else, one cannot see that is being seen.

Interning at the Architecture Outfit firm, I designed and built models for a project at the Columbus Circle. The project was to reconstruct a new mall in the subway station area.

These are shots of my mock-up model of how the mall would look like in reality. “Turnstyle� is the name of one of the companies involved in the mall.

I explored the conventions of the representational language pf architecture. I analyzed space through investigation of physical and social relationships on abstract urban systems. Particular emphasis was placed on the revelatory value of this abstract language; a language that is both a concise method for abstracting architectural space, and a generative method for speculating on design.

My initial idea was about controlling the flow of people by placing obstacles on the sidewalk.

I was inspired by the fact that my objects could not only be small obstacles but also a vast rock that would evoke people to go around it or climb it.

My time-bank is an artificial rock where people can interact, gather, and do rock-climbing. The rock is on a graduated incline from one side so that people can just walk up, and rock climb from the opposite side. There is also space on top where people can gather and rest, as well as inside. During the day, there are volunteers that assist people in a variety of activities and they are the facilitators in activating the social spaces of the time bank—day. At night, people gather and rest on top of the rock.

This project has multiple portals that create a matrix of a wide range of shapes and objects.

The person cannot tell the difference of the dimensions of the two overall images. In fact, the two images are sort of connected with each other, since the only space seen, is that revealed at the end of the tubes. The individual experiences distortion of space, due to limited eyesight.

The installation includes an interconnection of long, square tubes so that any individual can look through two different directions that will allow him to connect them.

Every position that allows the viewer to look through, has two dissimilar sizes of tubes, that when the individual looks through them, he/she is able to connect those two shapes subconsciously in the viewer’s mind, without even noticing.
