Since 1991, Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ) has been a pioneer in providing high-quality, holistic education with a strong focus on nurturing responsible global leaders.
Our Sixth Form programme integrates a rigorous academic curriculum with a comprehensive co-curricular programme, offering academic enrichment events, leadership opportunities, and community service initiatives. This blend of experiences not only prepares our students for success at university but also equips them with the skills and perspectives needed for life beyond.
Our unique super-curriculum broadens horizons by offering Sixth Form students enriching activities and experiences that enhance their university applications, making them stand out in a competitive landscape.
Nestled on an expansive 80-acre campus in the serene Malaysian countryside, KTJ provides students with access to outstanding sports facilities. These include an indoor climbing wall, a 25-metre swimming pool, and five outdoor fields designed for athletics, cricket, hockey, football, and rugby. Additionally, we offer outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, tennis and squash courts, a running track, and a well-equipped gym.
KTJ's commitment to excellence has been recognised on the global stage. In both 2021 and 2023, we were honoured as the International School of the Year by the Boarding Schools Association (BSA). Furthermore, in 2023, KTJ ranked 55th in the HSBC Hurun Education Global High Schools list, the only Malaysian school to be featured and proudly ranking 3rd among schools outside the UK and the US.

KTJ offers a robust A Level programme that emphasises subjects highly sought after by top-ranking universities. These facilitating subjects equip students with the essential skills, knowledge, and understanding required for success in higher education. Typically, students select four subjects at AS Level and continue with three or four subjects at A2.
The A Level subjects offered at KTJ include Accounting, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, History, Literature in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Music, and Physics.
Beyond core academics, KTJ provides extensive support and resources to foster students’ broader academic development. This includes scheduled classes in IELTS, AQA’s Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), SAT preparation, and study skills. Additionally, every A Level student benefits from the guidance of a Higher Education Tutor and participates in dedicated sessions with the Sixth Form Team. These sessions focus on preparing UCAS personal statements, US application essays, and university applications, while also developing the skills necessary for success at university, in the workplace, and in the wider community.
At the core of KTJ’s A Level programme lies the super-curriculum, a dynamic component designed to enrich students' academic journeys.
Through weekly enrichment talks, academic events, and university seminars, we inspire our students to question, explore, and engage with ideas beyond their A Level subjects. By broadening their exposure to a variety of enrichment activities outside the classroom, students not only develop critical skills but also uncover new passions as they embark on their personal journeys of academic discovery. Examples of our academic and co-curricular enrichment include:
◦ Events in collaboration with KTJ and the Oxbridge Society Malaysia, such as Law Moots, Debate Forums, and Engineering Workshops.
◦ Weekly enrichment evenings featuring external speakers who discuss topics ranging from politics, history, and culture to science and ethical issues.
◦ Conferences and talks organized by think tanks and community organizations.
◦ University talks and seminars that provide valuable insights into higher education.
Additionally, students participate in a wide array of sports, music, art, cultural, and leisure activities, many of which are student-led. These opportunities not only foster personal growth but also allow students to compete and perform at both national and international events and competitions.
