BIOGRAPHY MOSES KWADWO OPOKU ASAFO-ADJEI AGYEMAN-ANANE

Popularly known as Asaf. Asafo-Adjei was born on April 22, 1963 to M.T. Agyeman-Anane and Agnes Appiah-Kubi, both of blessed memory.

he won ‘The Best Pig Farm of The Year’ in Agona Swedru from the Farmers’ Associa�on.

In December 2018, he got married to Helena Osei Asamoah in a beau�ful ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

He was named Moses Kwadwo Opoku Asafo-Adjei Agyeman-Anane. Growing up, his father began calling him Asaf. From then, this was his nickname for all friends and family to call him by.

He leaves behind 8 adult children, his wife and 22 siblings. Not to men�on a village full of friends, extended family and neighbours.

He began kindergarten at Krofrom in Kumasi where his mother was a teacher. He was taken to Toase by his mother to con�nue his educa�on before moving once more to be with his father at Takoradi in 1970.

Asafo-Adjei was a gregarious, affable, dynamic, crea�ve and an original man. He was an honorable and loving person who made sure people around him were always at peace with each other.

In Takoradi he a�ended Methodist Primary School. A�er a brief stay in Takoradi, his father transferred to Agona Swedru.

In Agona Swedru, he was enrolled at Agona Swedru Urban Council. Later he transferred to Swedru Interna�onal School.

Everyone knew Asaf to have impeccable music taste, from Prince Classics to the new afro beat hits, he was always dancing and singing along. Dressed from head to toe in classic ou�its, there was never a �me he was caught not dressed in his Sunday’s best- honored by his signature glasses. He was a renaissance man who loved poli�cs, philosophy and history, he knew facts about everything. Football was one of his favourite sports, named ‘Ja Ja’ by his football club teammates off and on the field.

In 1977, he was admi�ed to Prempeh College in Kumasi to start his secondary school educa�on. A�er successfully comple�ng a five year course in GCE/WASC ordinary level, he then went to Ghana Secondary School in Koforidua to do a 2 year advance level work in his field of study. During his forma�ve years at Prempeh, he took on the role as a Cadet.

Asaf loved cooking and was always sharing his favourite recipes on social media, most notably on his Tik Tok. Asaf was indeed a gem, and there will never be anyone like him. One of a kind father, brother, uncle and friend.

In 1987, he traveled to Canada to start school at Fairview College (University of Lethbridge) in Calgary to further his educa�on and start a new chapter. Asaf became an entrepreneur and started several successful businesses.

In July 2023, he decided to come back to Canada to stay with his sister and family. Due to a sudden internal issue, Asaf devasta�ngly passed away on November 30, 2023.

In 2004, he became a Financial Advisor at President’s Choice Financial in Toronto where he excelled in his role.

In 2009, he pursued entrepreneurship and opened a private physiotherapy center called ONTARIO PHYSIO ONE in Toronto.

In 2010, Asaf started Hype Records to give exposure to local ar�sts and musicians in Ghana. During this �me, he managed and promoted many musicians and ar�sts in Canada and Ghana. He also ini�ated a groundbreaking all-female music fes�val called Red Lips�ck Concert which was the first of its kind in West Africa.

Asaf’s biggest legacy and message to all of us was: live life to the fullest, live with no regrets and be of strong mind to overcome all of life’s adversi�es.

In 2015, he returned home and ventured into farming, more specifically pig farming- aiming to serve the most delicious pork dishes under the business ‘Pork Daddy’. During this �me,

One of the most difficult things in life is wri�ng about a loved one who has passed on. This is so because we see the same thing differently and as such give different views and opinions of the same thing. MOSES KWADWO OPOKU ASAFO-ADJEI AGYEMAN-ANANE A.K.A “ASAF” was seen differently by everyone who knew him.

Some remember him for his posi�veness and others for his nega�veness. He was not without faults as a human and he may have had many of them in the eyes of many here today. We, as a family saw ASAF as an amiable and peace loving person. He always made sure friends and family members were at peace with each other.

He loved cooking and dancing and was always seen on his web page-whatsapp page. Always demonstra�ng his skills. He was polite to both the young and the old alike. He took much interest in whatever friend and family did and offered advice where necessary. I remember as a child any�me ASAF found it difficult to sleep, his father would pick him up and sing this lullaby to make him sleep.This song was specially made for him.

We will miss his enchan�ng smiles, culinary skills and his dancing skills and the the memorable �mes we shared together.

MOTHER As a mother, one of the worst news I could hear was that my Asaf was gone. It some�mes feels like I am in a dream.

The young boy that would follow me around with curiosity and wonder; the young adult that would support me with all my various businesses. The adult son who always stepped up to support without ques�on. He fiercely protected me and never said no to me when I needed something.

He was a son that became a dear friend who would call for chats at any �me, any day. Asaf was nurturing, kind and most of all such a joy to be around. To imagine living life without him is unbearable.

As you can imagine, I miss Asaf every single day. But I’ve found comfort in these �mes when I wish I could talk to him by returning to his favorite verses: Joshua Chapter 1, verse 9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Asaf loved that verse because his father gave it to him.

Asaf has always been available to support me and the rest of our family. Asaf was loving father, wonderful husband and was fiercely loved by all his siblings. Asaf was a man of integrity, confidence, and a unique human being. When you were around Asaf, you would be laughing and smiling.

One of the verses his father le� us was Joshua 24:15, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” I know Asaf is home with his father, si�ng side by side, breaking bread and they are holding onto each other with love and admira�on.

Kwadwo (Kojo) as I affec�onately called him became my husband some six years ago. He showed me such pure love that I never enjoyed anywhere else in my live. I stand here today with a broken heart to say goodbye to the love of my life, my soul mate and husband.

Together we made memories that will last forever, we laughed every day and shared the most wonderful moments. His kindness, strength and humility touched not just our family but all who knew him.

Asaf's contagious smiles and goofy sense of humor would light up any room he was in and make even the worst day seem a bit brighter. "You placed gold on my finger, you brought love, like I've never known, and you gave life to our children and to me, a reason to go on. You were my bread when I was hungry.

You were my shelter from troubled winds. You were my anchor in life's ocean But most of all, you were my best friend" I am beyond grateful, Asaf was by my side through our incredible journey and will never forget the love in his eyes that melted my heart every �me he looked at me.

Kwadwo although you may be gone from this world, your legacy lives on through the people you touched. We carry your memory with us and it brings me comfort to know that so much of you is alive in friends and family.

SIBLINGS Asaf, the sad and heart-breaking news received on 30 November 2023 of your unbelieving and early demise petrified and shu�ered us both physically and mentally. We are internally destroyed and devastated of not being able to either see you again or hear your fraternal voice or feel your warmth. Your death, Asaf, is a grievous loss to the whole family.

We s�ll cannot bring ourselves to absorb your unexpected passing, which has le� a deep scare. Are we dreaming and expec�ng to see you soon? Weeks have gone by and yet we cannot hear from you. Dearest Asaf, why have you le� us so soon, we have lost an irreplaceable precious gem – where can we find it? However, we console ourselves with our lovely childhood memories.

In fact, being the only baby boy among eight girls (sisters) then (before two other brothers were born). You were our favourite and adorable li�le brother, whom we loved, overly pampered and cherished. We were always enthralled to see you wore those gorgeous and impeccable suits that Papa purchased them for you. Lest we imagined that you would have le� us in a surprisingly short �me. You were such a kind-hearted brother who con�nually advised us when needed and also fascinatedly addressed each one of your sisters as “sis” with a li�le laugh. You cared for each one of your siblings and there was never a dull moment in your company.

The pain is obviously deeply rooted in our inner beings, and the fresh wound is s�ll bleeding. Asaf, as much as we try to alleviate the pain and dress the wound, we s�ll feel we are not in the healing process. We pray and hope that the Good Lord will heal and console us.

Your passing has le� us with beau�ful memories to remember and reminisce over, from long drives in your truck, to business mee�ngs about your ideas to restaurant and chop bar dates. We will always cherish these moments. No words can express our grief. Your legacy is love, a love that encompassed not only your family but extended to all who were fortunate enough to cross your path. A true love bearer as you would call yourself.

You were also a man of great humor, a person who could find joy and laughter in the simplest of things. Your infec�ous laughter could light up a room, a testament to your ability to embrace the lighter side of life. Your jokes and wi�y remarks were a source of endless entertainment.

It is hard to say rest in peace, Uncle, we cannot believe you are gone. It doesn’t make any sense to us but we live wit the comfort that you wouldn’t want us to be sad too long and you lived a very full, even�ul life. You would say it’s des�ny that this happened.

Your love needs no bounds and you will definitely be missed but our hope is that God will receive you into his kingdom.

Our favorite uncle, our coolest uncle, you are always going to be in our hearts. We love you so so so much and promise to live our lives unapologe�cally in your honor. We hope you’re up there singing Purple Rain with Prince and showing off your moves- like in those epic �k toks you would make.

IN-LAWS It is with a heavy heart that we write this tribute to our close and dear brother-in law, Mr. Opoku Agyeman-Anane A.K.A Uncle Asaf. He was an incredible person who impacted so many lives, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.

From the moment we met Uncle Asaf, we knew he was someone special.

He had a warmth and kindness that was infec�ous, and he always had a smile on his face. Over the years, we grew close and came to appreciate his unwavering support and the way he always made �me for his family. One of the things we admired most about Uncle Asaf was his work ethic. He was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was helping a friend move or volunteering.

He had a deep sense of responsibility and took pride in his ability to help others. Uncle Asaf was also a man of great humor and wit. He could always make you laugh, even on the toughest of days. His infec�ous energy and posi�ve outlook on life were contagious, and we always felt be�er a�er spending �me with him.

But perhaps what we will remember most about is his generosity and his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father and brother-in-law, and his love for his family knew no bounds.

He was always there to offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or a words of encouragement. He was a glue that held his family together and his absence is felt deeply by all.

Uncle Asaf accomplished much in his life, but it was his kindness and love for others that truly defined him. We feel blessed to have known him and to have been a part of his life. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Uncle Asaf was taken from us too soon, but his legacy will live on. We will cherish the memories we have of him and the impact he had on our lives.

His love, kindness, and generosity will always be remembered, and we will honor him by carrying on his legacy of love and service. Rest in peace dear Uncle Asaf, akonta m’adamfo.

CLASSMATES FROM PREMPEH COLLEGE 1982 YEAR GROUP

‘’The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves the crushed in spirit’’. Psalm 34:18

We write this tribute with grieving hearts and great reluctance. It is indeed a difficult assignment to try and reduce the quali�es of our classmate, our friend and our brother of many parts into a few paragraphs by way of a tribute. It is not easy to capture the essence and impact of the life of Opoku Agyeman Anane affec�onately known as 'Anagio’, ‘Gio’, ‘Giola’ and ‘Prempeh Le-Tu’. Gio was not just a classmate but also a brother.

Anagio had a warm and pleasant personality with a highly contagious sense of humour that always elevated and lightened up every occasion, leaving smiles and laughter wherever he went. He was a visionary and crea�ve person and never pretended. His true success in life was being ‘’a people’s person’’ ’because he had a natural ins�nct to offer help and support at all �mes.

Anagio would always make �me for friendship. He was charitable with his resources, �me, and affec�on. What he succeeded in hiding from most people was his great brain power that lay behind the façade of hilarity.

Our memory of Anagio is that when we arrived at Sofoline, his thick-tall structure belied his true character. As we got to know each other be�er and everyone’s character began to emerge, his gentle, so�-spoken, kind and affable demeanour le� its mark on us throughout our school and adult lives. In class, he was an a�en�ve listener and very respec�ul to teachers. He however asked all the difficult ques�ons so we all sat �ght on our seats whenever he li�ed his hand up in class. He was always willing to join us on anything that we intended on doing whether it was Aluta or bringing to jus�ce anyone that we thought should be exposed for things that were not legally or morally si�ng well with us.

Anagio was very studious going into the la�er years i.e. Form 4 and Form 5 and would spend a lot of �me a�er prep hours beyond the official light out which occurred at 10pm. In some instances where there was light in the bathroom he would join other mates to study in the bathroom defying mosquitos.

In OT Dorm 8, Gio loved his morning sleep and would coil himself up in a yellowish-greenish sleeping cloth and grudgingly wake up on Sunday mornings to have breakfast and a�end church service. Anagio was jovial, always smiling and never missed an opportunity to tease any of Dorm 8 classmates, who had been picked on for the day.

Gio would connect with everyone effortlessly and was always an instrumental part to all our collec�ve adventures, both in and out of school. In school, you could always spot him in diverse social ac�vi�es such as Samanmo singing, dancing and weekend group trips to St. Louis and Yaa Asantewaa. It is not surprising, therefore, that his affec�onate nickname“Anagio” which was occasionally shortened to “Gio” or Giola”- had many variants by different sec�ons of the school.

Every variant of the nickname signified a different unique connec�on with the same core admirable values that he exuded so profusely.

Anagio will always argue his point and never wanted to lose. If he however realises that he was not ge�ng anywhere with whoever is disagreeing with him, he will walk away but you are guaranteed he will call the other person one of two names. You are either a Moabite or a Tishbite which are names in the Bible of tribes that were against the Israelites.

Glancing at your photographs give us an acute nostalgia of the good days we spent together. It is difficult to understand that we will no longer be reading your philosophical scribblings on the '82-year group pla�orm. Giola, we will miss your passion to defend your beliefs and convic�ons. As we, your classmates bid you farewell today, we want to assure you that, you will forever live in hearts and minds.

For his love for samanmo, one late night in 1981, Anagio summoned Angola Seaman and T-Zorro to sing to them a new samanmo that he had composed to teach the school for the upcoming Inter School Athle�cs. He said Prempeh College was among a few schools in the country that taught the La�n Language and so he wanted his samanmo to sound intellectual; so, he had composed it in La�n. The �tle of this samanmo was “Prempeh-Le-Tu” The composi�on of Prempeh-Le-Tu was brilliant but �me did not permit him to teach the school. By the way we are yet to know the meaning of the La�n phrase “Prempeh-Le-Tu” in English.

May the good Lord grant you eternal rest. Adamfo-pa, da yie. we, your classmates bid you farewell today, we want to assure you that, you will forever live in hearts and minds.

Giola, the School Cadet was one area that you held dearly to your heart and the peak of your Cadet life was when the school cadet went by air to the Daboya Military Training Camp near Tamale in 1980. We s�ll have pictures and memories on arrival to Kumasi a�er successfully comple�ng the intensive military training. In these pictures, there is Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah, the current Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces who a�ended that same unique training with you and the joy on your faces tell how proud you brave cadets were to have successfully completed that military training.

Fare thee well Anagio, rest in Peace bro �ll we meet again.

Unassuming, calm, and yet engaging is how we would describe Mr. Opoku Agyeman-Anane. The late Opoku Agyeman-Anane as we all know was a member of The Wordlife Church- Ghana, Christ Assembly. He joined the church about six years ago when he found his beloved wife Mrs. Agyeman- Anane.

Our hearts are filled with sorrow; in fact, the news of his passing away was with great dismay, shock and pain to the church. Mr. Opoku Agyeman-Anane commi�ed herself to God �ll he passed away. The church would have wished that you would be with us today but as the word says man opposes, God disposes.

Due to his humble nature and the teachings of the word of God he gave his life to Christ. The late Mr. Opoku Agyeman-Anane was usually in Canada due to his business rou�nes but always availed himself on arrival for service. His desire was to join the church choir but didn't materialize.

Wordlife Church has really lost a great pillar and an excep�onal friend. Mr. Opoku Agyeman-Anane, we thank God for your life and we also ask Him to grant you rest in His bosom �ll we meet again.

We are consoled by the fact that you are in a be�er place, where there is no night, no more weeping and no more pain.

Asaf as we affec�onately called him was kind, and gave advice to people who got close to him in the church. Unfortunately on 30th November, 2023 news reached the church that Mr. Opoku Agyeman-Anane had passed on in Canada a�er a short a�ack. We felt it was un�mely and too sudden for him to be confronted with cold hands of death.

The leadership and members of the en�re church say; fare thee well, and we ask the Lord Almighty to keep you �ll we meet again.

Jaja had already prepared for the soccer crew end-of-year party, eagerly an�cipa�ng the fes�vi�es in his impeccably tailored suit. His absence at the party is a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictable nature of our existence.

Jaja was not just a teammate on the field; he was a great addi�on to our soccer crew, a pioneer member whose passion for the game was infec�ous. Every Saturday, rain or shine, he laced up his cleats and joined us on the pitch, bringing a sense of camaraderie and joy that li�ed our spirits.his enthusiasm, and his unwavering dedica�on made him an indispensable part of our soccer family.

As we reflect on Jaja's life, it's impossible to forget the joy he

NA 96 FAMILY OF ASAFO KUMASI

A li�le over six decades ago, a beau�ful budding flower was planted in Kumasi. Like any other flower, Opoku Asafo-Adjei Agyeman- Anane popularly known as Asaf bloomed into a beau�ful flower, a�rac�ng the most charming bu�erflies, enviable companies/establishments to se�le on his a�rac�ve petals during his working life in Ghana and Canada.

We, the family from NA 96 had the opportunity to enjoy his nectar as a brother, cousin, and uncle.

Asaf was quiet, cool, and gentle, peaceful in nature, kind-hearted and always did his best to help those who were in need.

Asaf will be fondly remembered for his friendly, courteous, down-to-earth, and smiley personality. He was the brain behind the NA96 WhatsApp Pla�orm and par�cipated on it regularly. This was his way of connec�ng with the rest of the family to share ideas of mutual interest.

As flowers bloom and wither under certain environmental condi�ons, so are humans.

Words cannot describe our shock and sadness when we received the unpleasant and sad news that Asaf had shuffled off the mortal coil.

Asaf, you have fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Now there is in store for you, the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award you on the way to resurrec�on.

Rest in Perfect Peace, Asaf.
