Grand Knights Message Manny Trevino Brother Knights May is the month of Mary, the Mother of Jesus and our mother. One of the defining characteristics of the Knights of Columbus is its members’ deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus. All of us received a rosary when we joined in the First Degree. We are encouraged to turn to Mary as his own Mother, so that she may lead us closer to her Son. From the beginning, the Knights have expressed devotion to Mary under various titles, especially Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and of the Philippines, and the Immaculate Conception, likewise patroness of both the United States and the Philippines. I know there are several that already have a dedication to praying the rosary, but I want to extend the challenge to all of us to strive to pray it daily during the month of May. May is also right in the midst of the 50 days of Easter. Easter is not over. We characterize it by the joy of glorified life and the victory over death, expressed most fully in the great resounding cry of the Christian: Alleluia! All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14)

For our council, this Easter season we emulate the victory over death as our council year has only one more month. This council has achieved victorious accomplishments in many of the fundraisers and charitable activities throughout the year. The sacrifices made by many members of this council, and their families, have sown hard works and reaped joy & consolation to many. Just a Christ sowed His body so that many would reap eternal life; our council’s works provided relief to several that needed it. The Gentlemen of this council continue to astonish many as with every event, volunteers step forward to serve charity, the parish, and each other. Proud to be a Knight, especially of this Council. In the month of May, we are bringing forth the nominations for Officers for the upcoming council year beginning July 1. If you are interested in any of the positions, or in any of the appointed of Directors, please let one of the nomination committee members know. As a reminder, the nomination committee exists only to find & nominate for positions of which there are no volunteers. I encourage you to serve as an Officer or Director of this council. You will find the experience gratifying and fulfilling when you observe the works and commitments of this council from a different viewpoint. The nomination committee consists of Joe Davis, Tim Schoendorf, David Fowler, Bret Curran, and me – your humble servant.
