This prototype magazine was produced as an assignment for professor Terry Eiler's capstone class in the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University during the fall 2023 semester. Terry challenged me to plan, report, photograph, write, design and print a magazine. I was back at my alma mater as the Knight Fellow taking a full load of graduate classes that also had me making my first documentary film. Because Ohio is the birthplace of aviation, and I had learned to fly the previous year, I decided to have some fun and produce a magazine for aviators that showcased Ohioans. I experimented with equipment, software and techniques that were new to me including using a drone for the cover picture, and a 360-degree camera for an in-flight picture of me in my airplane as well as making a composite panorama picture in an air traffic control tower.
