Welcome among the dinosaurs! You‘re not afraid of them, are you? Some dinosaurs have big teeth, are huge, noisy, and sometimes even growl quite loudly, but the ones you‘ll meet in our fairy tales are completely different. Peaceful and friendly. Imagine they‘re dealing with the same problems you are. Sometimes they don‘t want to brush their teeth, sometimes they don‘t listen to mummy and daddy or they make their friends angry, sometimes they get a bit sad. Come with us to the prehistoric times and find out how things work in such an ordinary dinosaur kindergarten.
Vendula Hegerová discovered her passion for children‘s illustrations mainly thanks to a commission to decorate the children‘s ward at Jihlava Hospital. The joy her decorations brought to the children convinced her that it is young children who appreciate her cheerful pictures the most. She is a multifaceted artist who has created board books, comics, animation, room designs, greeting cards, but most of all, of course, books. Often, these are educational works that spark children‘s creativity and imagination. Author
Markéta Veselá has been an avid reader since childhood. She studied History of Recent Czech Literature at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia, where she earned her doctorate. She makes her living as an editor and copywriter. Her daughter introduced her to dinosaurs when she decided, at the age of two, that she wanted to become a paleontologist. This also made the author somewhat of an involuntary expert on dinosaurs and other prehistoric monsters. She first wrote Dinosaur Fairytales (2022) with her daughter, but because you can never have enough dinosaurs, a second book, Velké dinodobrodružství (The Great Dino Adventure, 2023), has also been published.

erven vzal hůl a máchl s ní nad ohněm. Pospěš si! vyzval ji erven. aruška s radostí sbírala, a měla plnou zástěru. Potom měsíčkům pěkně poděkovala a vesele pospíchala domů.

As we know, every child is unique. Each child comes from a different place, has a different name, and is of different ages and heights. They have different eye and hair colors, unique freckles, and various types of glasses or braces. Some excel in math, while others shine in languages, handstands, dodgeball, or chess. In short, children come in all sorts of varieties – each one is original but mostly cute, direct, and somehow ordinary. Then there are also kids who are, let’s say, a little more wild and adventurous. Meet Karolina from Kardašova Řečice, František from Františkovy Lázně, Žaneta from Žamberk, and many other exceptional children. They all share something in common: they are just a bit different and can do or experience things you never dreamed of.

A well-known Czech author, she has long been involved in promoting literacy.
An award-winning Czech illustrator, her illustrated children‘s book won an award at the 2022 Turin International Book Fair.
The doorless lift, also known as a paternoster, is a historical type of elevator. It consists of a chain of individual cabs that move continuously up and down, allowing passengers to get on and off as they go.
The house that Delilah and her parents moved into looks completely ordinary, except for the lift. The elevator constantly circulates between floors, and passengers have to jump into the moving cabs and then jump out again when they get off. Delilah is not yet allowed to ride on her own, so she is happy to take a ride with one of her neighbours. They seem like oddballs to her, and she suspects they‘re trying to hide something behind closed apartment doors. However, the elevator has no doors, and Delilah is determined to uncover all the secrets of the building.

Honza Vojtko
Bestselling Czech author.
A children‘s horror story infused with magical realism, where adventure meets the unknown and imagination knows no bounds.
An original combination of motifs from Slavic folklore with a modern story that appeals not only to younger readers but also to adults.
A spooky, almost horror story of a group of four children, almost teenagers, who discover the ability to communicate in different forms and variations with a world that is not exactly common for mortals. A haunting horror for younger teens featuring Slavic folkloric creatures and a group of protagonists that brings deadly danger to an otherwise ordinary village in Bohemia by summoning snow for the school holidays. The fact that newly acquired abilities are not always a gift is felt by all those who have unpredictably taken up magic...
With this book, the author aims to evoke not only surprise and fear but also the courage to fight against overwhelming odds – not just the feeling of fear and apprehension.
The author honours his belief that childhood is not merely preparation for life, but life itself, and that children and young people must be made ready for it.
