HEY THERE, I’M KAT Born to a Cuban architect and an American history buff, I was raised with a passion for storytelling and an appreciation for the little details.

I received my BA from Tufts University and was lucky enough to train in long-form narrative photojournalism under World Press Photo Chairman Gary Knight. While based in Rome working for the United Nations, I was hit by a car on my way home from work — what I call my “Regina George” moment.

While spending a year in recovery at home in New York, I began noticing how obsessively people documented every aspect of their life and participated in the world through a screen, but rarely lived fully present in the moment. I have since become passionate about capturing those lost moments that make us who we are.

After photographing over 400 weddings around the world for nearly a decade, I now take on a limited number of events annually and split my time between both coasts.

When I am not shimmying on the dance floor, you can find me working at a non-profit in the Bay Area that eases and ends the crisis of homelessness in our communities. It is a blessing to be able to tell stories for a living.

DAY BEFORE Coverage It's not just the story of one day, but the celebration of you as a couple with all of your most loved people.

The night before your wedding is filled with excitement, anticipation, and celebration. That's why having coverage for your rehearsal dinner or welcome party is a must.

Some of the most heartfelt moments and heartfelt speeches can happen the night before, and we don't want to miss any of it. Having a photographer present can also help your friends and family feel more comfortable in front of the camera on the big day. They'll get to know us, see how we work, and by the time the wedding day arrives, they'll feel like they have their own personal paparazzi (in the best way possible).

It's recommended to book 2-3 hours if you're having just a rehearsal dinner. If you're hosting a dinner and party, 45 hours will be enough time to cover all the festivities.

I wear my Platinum Delta status like a badge of pride, and have mastered the cross-country redeye.

I'm a New York native who now resides in Northern California. These two locations require no travel fees as I am often back and forth between both coasts.

For weddings outside of NYC and SF, we’ll send a custom quote based on accommodation rates, flights, and potential rental car needs to your location. Most couples spend anywhere between $1-2k for travel costs.

INTERNATIONAL WEDDINGS & ELOPEMENTS

I've photographed weddings around the world, including Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the UK, and beyond.

International weddings have special pricing for travel. We'll create a custom proposal for you based on the cost of international flights and time traveling.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WEDDINGS BY KATHERINE MARCHAND

HOW MANY IMAGES CAN WE EXPECT IN THE FINAL GALLERY? We deliver approximately 75-100 photos per hour of coverage. There is no limit on the number of photos you will receive. We photograph anywhere from 7-15k raw files for any wedding client. All the photos go through an intentional culling and editing process to ensure the final gallery unfolds as naturally as your wedding day.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE MORE ABOUT YOUR BACKUP SYSTEM? Oh, I care so passionately about backup systems! After your wedding, all of the photos will go through my ultra-secure triple backup system to prevent against any file loss. Multiple memory cards, physical hard drives, and digitally on the cloud. Your raw photos are saved for 6 months and you have access to the gallery for 18 months.

WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOU BEFORE THE WEDDING? This situation has never occurred in nearly 500 weddings, but I have a firm plan in place for any emergencies. If something happens to me before the wedding, a trained associate from the team will step in. If something happens to me after the wedding but before receive the gallery, trusted partners will access my Photo Will and follow the editing instructions to ensure you receive all of your wedding photos.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE? Yes! I am insured up to $2,000,000 of liability coverage. We have a certificate of insurance that we can share with your venue if they require one and also can list them as an additional insured.

WHICH CAMERA DO YOU SHOOT ON AND WHAT'S IN YOUR KIT? I work on a series of mirrorless Nikon Z6II and Z7 cameras with a variety of lenses that give your phots a film-like, cinematic feel. I also use a Fuji GFX medium-format camera for editorialinspired imagery and some 35mm film cameras for fun.
