the dallas transit center.
The Dallas Transit Center represents an incredible opportunity to create a thriving, complete, sustainable, human-centered neighborhood. It serves as a model community for generations of architects and planners as they orchestrate the pivot away from sprawl to create forward-thinking 21st century pedestrian oriented urban centers. The Transit Center serves as a civic, social and economic anchor for the future DFW community while breaking down the North and South equity divide.

This project was one of the first iterations I was a part of making for our 2023 - 2024 Design Build program. Our Design Build program is one of the pathways offered in our 3rd year in the School of Architecture. This program partners with Med Camps of Louisiana. Med Camps of Louisiana operates under the belief that all people, regardless of medical or special needs, deserve to experience life to the fullest and that camping is an American tradition which epitomizes normalcy and provides a vital a sense of well-being, belonging, accomplishment and self-worth. Translating these beliefs into action MedCamps hosts a series of one-week camps each summer free of charge for children in Louisiana facing the challenges of a variety of physical and mental disabilities. This semester our project is to create a games field and pavilion that offers these campers a place to take part in an array of different activities and games that you would normally participate in at summer camp.

The inspiration for the Hughes School of Cinematography at Rice University came from the film styles of John Hugh used on the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Hughes shot the entire movie without moving the camera. The motion captured in the movie came from the movement of the cast. I translated this concept of still frames of motion through making intentional frames throughout my building. When you view the building from the outside you are able to see the movement within through the frames. When you are inside the building the same views are used to frame different elements around the site such as the baseball field, the Moody, and other campus buildings.
