INTRODUC TION

Travelling has always been my passion. For as long as I can remember, I have found myself the happiest when trapped inside a giant flying metal can on the way to a new adventure. Exploring different cultures and sharing them with the world is an essential part of who I am.
I have also always found immense joy in writing. Writing has the ability to teach, inspire and connect with others like no other medium. Combining my love for travelling and my aptitude for writing, I decided to start a travel blog at the young age of eight, following my first ever international trip.
My blog, which I humbly titled Caique F. Kloss, quickly gained national attention in Brazil after the biggest newspaper in the country published an article on it. I was immensely proud of myself, and despite the increased pressure, continued to write for another year.
However, as I entered my teenage years, I did what most teenagers would do… I gave up. Since then, although I have visited nearly 10 new countries, I haven’t written a single article on any of my new adventures.
This Capstone Project then surfaced as an opportunity for me to pick up where I left off, 8 years ago, and once again reconnect with my true passions. This guide is more than just a Capstone project, it is a love letter to my childhood dreams. Most importantly, it is entirely dedicated to my parents, to whom I owe my passion for exploring the world and who have made all these dreams come true.
Enjoy the reading!

Your first destination of the day is Taksim, one of the central squares of modern Istanbul and a primary transportation hub. Taksim is easily accessible via an affordable express bus (Havabus) from both of the city’s airports. The region surrounding the square is filled with numerous local restaurants, making it an ideal place for an authentic and affordable Turkish breakfast.
Next, board the Istanbul Metro from the Taksim Station over to Vezneciler Station, located just a short walk from your second stop, the Grand Bazaar. There, you will be able to explore the biggest and one of the oldest closed roof markets in the world, with thousands of different shops, restaurants and even its own mosque.
Once you are done exploring the thousands of stores in the Grand Bazaar, head down to the Basilica Cistern, only a 10 minute walk away. There, you’ll be able to walk inside a massive Byzantine-era cistern built entirely underground, and snap some shots of incredibly sculpted pillars (including some of medusa heads).
Then, tour around the infamous Topkapi Palace, where Ottoman Sultans once lived a life of utmost splendor and ruled over their empire. Alternatively, walk around the palace’s gardens, situated just beneath it, which are equally as grand but free to access.
Your next destinations are the magnificent Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosques, situated right across from each other. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the clash between the Byzantine and Ottoman architectures of these two colossal structures.
Wrap up your day by crossing the Galata Bridge over to the charming Galata district, where you will find hundreds of different restaurants and local shops as well as the famous Galata Tower. For dinner, head to GalataPort for a premium dining experience, while sinking in the mesmerizing view of the sunset over the Old City.

LONDON
Your journey in London starts right where the city first started, in the borough known today as the City of London. Today, it is primarily a business district filled with modern skyscrapers. Still, some of the city’s most famous landmarks are located there, such as the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
After wandering around London City, take the tube over to St. Paul’s Cathedral. There, you’ll be able to not only admire the church’s architectural and artistic beauty but also explore nearby sites such as the iconic Globe Theatre and the newly built, pedestrian-only, Millennium Bridge.
Continue walking along the Thames River towards London’s primary borough, the City of Westminster. You will immediately find yourself in the heart of the British capital, where you can explore the hundreds of different landmarks that have defined the city. Must-see sites include the Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey, St. James’ Park and Buckingham Palace
Next, head to London’s very own Times Square: Piccadilly Circus. Indulge in some shopping and make sure to visit the legendary Harrods department store! The area is also filled with numerous different restaurants making it perfect for a late lunch to recharge your energies before continuing to explore the city.
From Piccadilly Circus, board one of London’s staple double decker buses to Hyde Park. The park is home to various other landmarks suck as Kensington Palace, the Wellington Arch, the Peter Pan statue and the Albert Memorial. Additionally, Hyde Park’s hills are perfect for a sunset picnic.
End your stay in London by exploring the pictoresque boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea. The area is known for its beautiful Victorian white homes, which today house numerous hotels and boutique stores. The area is also home to many local pubs, where you may enjoy your final meal in London with some authentic, although likely uninteresting, British cuisine.

NEW YORK CITY
Start the day at the Rockefeller Centre complex and climb up to the 68th floor observation deck, known as the Top of the Rock, for the best unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline.
Then, quickly make your way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known as the MET. There, you will be able to see some of humanity’s most valuable artifacts, including a fully reconstructed ancient Egyptian temple.
As you leave the MET, cross the street to find yourself in the middle of Central Park. Take a stroll around the park, visiting the Bethesta Terrace and perhaps trying one of the legendary NYC hotdogs, before heading towards 5th Ave. At 5th Ave, visit your favourite world brands and their flagship stores, or simply explore the region. The beautiful St. Paul’s Cathedral is also located there.
Then, head straight to Broadway because it’s time for a musical matinee! This is a must-do while in NYC and there are a number of different musicals for all tastes that play every day. Tickets are often sold out well in advance, so make sure to guarantee yours before it’s too late. Once the show is done, make your way to the nearby Times Square and snap a shot at the iconic Red Steps.
Lastly, head down to the cobbled streets of Greenwich Village for a charming dinner. Options range from the nearby local Italian delicatessens, public markets, and numerous Michelin starred restaurants.

PA RIS
Paris is an exception to this guide. Although it is possible to explore the city with a set itinerary like this one, there is no better way to enjoy all that Paris has to offer than by simply getting lost in one of its arrondissements. Walking around and discovering new spots on your own is hands down my best pick on how to spend a day in Paris. Still, for the purposes of this guide, I must provide you with at least a rough idea as to where to get lost.
Start your day by exploring the two Seine River islands,: l’Île de la Cité and l’Île SaintLouis. There, you’ll be able to have an authentic French breakfast at the Café Le Flore en Île, and visit the famous Notre Dame de Paris cathedral.
Crossing the bridge to Rive-Gauche, you will find yourself in the world renowned Quartier Latin, filled with restaurants and stores from all over the world, making it an ideal spot for lunch.
Next, head to the Opéra arrondissement, home to some of the city’s most famous landmarks such as the Galeries Lafayette, the Louvre, the Opéra Garnier and the Rue de Rivoli. From there, make your way to the Champs Elysées for some shopping or simply to admire the avenue’s grandeur.
Just a quick walk down from the Arc de Triomphe, situated at the end of the Champs Elysées, you will find the Palais du Trocadero, situated right across from the breathtaking Tour Eiffel. Although often crowded, you will be able to enjoy the best unobstructed views of the world’s most famous landmark.
Finish your day off by watching one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world at the Sacre-Cœur Basilica situated atop the Montmartre hill. The area is also filled with numerous dinner spots and art galleries to end your stay in Paris on a (literal) high note.

ATHENS
Begin your Athenian adventure by heading to the city’s main square, Monastiraki. You will immediately find yourself surrounded by the mesmerizing clash of Ancient ruins and colourful 19th century buildings. Exploring the area early in the morning allows for a less crowded experience, as the streets are often narrow and filled with tourists.
Then, head to the Ancient Agora of Athens, your first archaeological site of the day. The various temples, ruins and sculptures in the site will transport you back to ancient times. The Temple of Hephaestus, located within the Agora site, is exceptionally well-preserved and worth visiting.
For lunch, head down to Plaka. A tourist hotspot, restaurants are often expensive and mediocre, but the neighbourhood’s European charm and astounding Acropolis views make up for it - especially in the scenic village of Anafiotika, which is situated right on the Acropolis Hill’s footsteps
After lunch, it’s time to climb up the Acropolis to see the monumental Parthenon close by. The site also contains the ancient Temple of Athena and the Herodion Theatre. Atop the hill, be ready to take in absolutely breathtaking views of Athens. After exploring the site, head to the Acropolis Museum to better understand the history of the site and explore its extensive collection of archaeological findings.
Next, take a break from Ancient Greece and sit down at a café in the charming neighbourhood of Kolonaki, where you can cool down from the Athenian heat by trying an authentic Greek Frappé. If you’re up to another adventure, go up to the highest of Athens’ three central hills, Lycabettus Hill, accessible via a both a trail and a funicular.
Right before sunset, head to the neighbourhood opposite to Plaka, Thiseo. Enjoy your dinner with unmatchable views of the Acropolis from one of the many rooftops in the area. Finish off your stay in Athens with a night stroll around the area, where you can shop from various artisan vendors and enjoy live music performances.
