I became confident in my desired career field watching professional soccer games in Germany and the Netherlands while on a tournament with my team. Seeing how the architecture of these stadiums can excite and facilitate the passion of fans will always be inspiring to me. This inspiration drives me to become a stronger designer every day. YARDARTTHE
Project Prompt: Individually design a dual-use space to connect downtown Lawrence to the Arts District
The first step of this project was to go out and survey the site in groups of four, finding any relevant features or history that could be useful when designing the concept for our structure. We used this information to create the 40”x 60” presentation shown here at right. The program of the building was a dual-use space that needed to include an art gallery. The second portion of my building is a coffee shop with a rooftop dining area. One of my ideas to connect both the residents of the arts district as well as the pedestrians on their way downtown was to include a communal art mural on the front facade of the building. Artists could come at any time to express themselves on the front wall of this building. I soon realized that this wasn’t just a space to look at art but to make it. I then added both a outdoor community art studio as well as an indoor studio with a garage door for an open-air option.

PETALS WetlandsBaker KansasLawrence, The last change the higher of the lotus so that naturallyvisitorslook 14
Project Prompt: Individually design a rest stop to be located along the bike path of the Baker Wetlands 15
After my first few study models, I realized that my design inspired by the lily pad and lotus flower provided a form to my structure, but lacked function. My solution to this was to offset each of the petals so that the petals themselves would be stairs to a higher viewing level.
After going to the site, I was taken away by the extensive views the wetlands had to offer. I knew I wanted to design a structure with a 360o viewing platform to compliment them. I then found inspiration in a small, personal lily pad pond that I’d eventually claim to be my site. My original idea was to creating a lily pad shaped viewing platform where the rest stop would be located with a lotus flower on top to provide shade.
change I made to my initial design was to make viewing level a stargazing area. The petals lotus flower would be padded and reclined visitors could come and lay back in order to look at the stars above.
• Decided that the atrium of my rest stop did not require walls and would be a better user experience with an open-air design to accommodate the views • This design change called for the walls to be full height at the restrooms and slope down to bench height for a two-way circular bench • Added a more personal third tier viewing platform for those who wanted a space to reflect or a close-up view of the lily pond Origami concept model-Close- Origami concept model-FullPetals final model-East• 16

Once I had the idea behind the pod formed, I was able to start working on how I wanted the pod and pod configuration to look. I started out with a bubble diagram showing the spaces and how I wanted to the student to move through them. That turned into a floor plan. I then created a singular pod and experimented with how to put multiple pods together while still satisfying my design needs.

Project 3
Battle of Black Jack Visitor Center task for my third and final project to create a visitor center for the historic Battle of Black Jack battle site. original inspiration for this building came from learning about the battle itself. One of John Brown’s battle tactics to use the creeks and trenches to advantage by causing confusion as how many men he had on his side. mimic this, I decided to have my building be raised around the outdoor space so that when you are standing this space, it feels although you are the trench. When going on my site visit, I really liked how natural the environment was and I knew I wanted bring focus to that in my design. of our project statement was that needed to include a viewing tower could give an overlook of the site. decided that I wanted to incorporate 22

This project, completed over the course of about one and a half weeks was to design a new visitor center for the viewing tower that overlooked the entire battlefield. Motion & Sense
This assignment was for us to take a video and separate it into a series of stills. We would then take each still and draw it in order to make connections from still to still. We diagrammed these connections and used it to make a abstract model. My model shows the relationship within the triangle of my hips and right knee, as well as where, in relation to each other, both of my elbows were.

The purpose of this project was to show that architecture is more than just the walls and structure of a building, it is the space within it. Sometimes you have to let the space and idea for a project create the design and manipulate all of the “conventional” architecture around it. In this project, I had to deign a space to attract and eventually move people from point A to point B in a creative way.

2022 Summer Internship 26
This past summer, I was lucky enough to receive an architectural internship at Mainline Group Architecture Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri. Over the summer I did many construction documents such as floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, site and setback plans, etc. as well as a lot of 3D modeling. My favorite project of the summer was working a restore and renovation of a Leonardo Bernoudi house. It was challenging to make the house efficent for our client’s family while keeping the original historic design alive, but the challenge is what made the project so interesting to me.
