en A. Wilson is a student-led community service organization. s one of the many schools located in the Goldstone Division hich also includes Chaffey, Damien, Diamond Bar, Los Altos, d St. Lucy’s.

e work to uplift our communities with numerous clubs in the WIN’S District spreading across California, Nevada, and waii and over 1,500 members.

NH KIWIN’S itself is the 32nd district of Key Club International.

The History Of

KIWIN’S (the big bang)

Beginning in 1974, Sid Smith, a past California-NevadaHawaii Kiwanis District Governor, wanted his daughters to be able to join a service organization. However, with Key Club being all-male and the only one in existence, Smith took it into his own hands and created the club, Keyettes.

The name was later changed to “Keywanettes” due to complications with the rights of the name but with the help of the CNH Kiwanis Sponsored Youth Advisors, the Keywanettes became an organization that provided young women an opportunity to give back to their communities.

Originally, there were four districts of Keywanettes, West Virginia, Texas, North and South Carolina, and CNH. Although the organization had begun expanding at a pace above any other high school club in the nation, the Texas, Virginia, and Carolinas Districts merged with Key Club districts. This left CNH as the strongest and only CNH Keywannettes district that remained.

in 1995, the House of Delegates at the annual CNH Convention changed the name officially to KIWIN’S. The name comes from the Otchipew language and means “people, men and women, working together in service.” This change was made to get rid of any specified gender-specific terms to welcome all to join and expand the organization further.

The CNH KIWIN’S District would eventually join Key Club International in 2001 after the District Convention. This was not a merging of districts but instead the Cal-NevHa KIWIN’S became the 32nd District of Key Club International.

While there are many misconceptions between Key Club and KIWIN’S, KIWIN’S holds strong our own unique traditions even if our goals align greatly with that of Key Club’s. Our OHANA and connection are greatly enhanced with our smaller size but our influence and power to affect our communities is just as powerful as any another organization.

Live2Learn Realizing the need and interest in supporting the Major Emphasis Program through hands on service, a new service initiative will be created on a two-year basis. All of the hands on service provided to children by Key Club International members can be directed to a single area of need to make a substantial impact. This service initiative directs and focuses the attention of KIWIN'S members to serve children in a specific hands-on approach.

What can you do?

CNH KIWIN'S members currently will focus their time and talents on Live2Learn, specifically focused on 5-9 year old youth, with the main goals of promoting education and building literary skills. This program not only creates endless possibilities to strengthen the common goal of service, but also allows each CNH KIWIN'S member to develop into a well-rounded individual community leader and lifelong advocate for children's education.

s e s a h p CNH Children’s Fund CNH Children’s Fund works to provide greater opportunities and a better future for our children by providing scholarships and leadership training to both college and high school students. There is also funding going towards Kiwanis clubs and certain children’s hospitals to prevent Pediatric Trauma.

World Central Kitchen There are four core values for World Central Kitchen which include: Empathy: We meet people where they are with dignity and respect, building community connections through shared understanding.

Equity: We are a force for change, striving for just and fair food access for all. We commit to diversity, fairness, and inclusivity in our team and in our work.

Collaboration: We work as a team – we the people, not I the person. We empower each other, our partners, and the communities we serve so they can succeed and thrive.

Adaptability: We listen, learn, and improve as we pursue innovative and urgent solutions to turn problems into opportunities.

Sustainability: We endeavor to be responsible stewards for the environment, doing our part to ensure that the world can continue to support the food needs of all people.

KIWANIS

K-Kids

With over 36,000 members worldwide, K-Kids focus on providing opportunities for working together in service to school and community, developing leadership potential, fostering the development of strong moral character, and encouraging loyalty to the school, community, and nation.

K-Kids

Builder’s Club

Builders Club is the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students. They are a student-led community service organizations that operates under school regulations with over 46,000 members worldwide.

Their motto is "Building Leaders" and their vision is to develop competent, capable, and caring leaders through service. Similar to Key Club, they provide members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership. A Builders Club is chartered with a Kiwanis Club, but can also be co-sponsored by Key Club and Circle K.

Key Club is a student-led, high school organization.

Members make the world a better place through service.

In doing so, Key Club grows individuals as leaders by answering the call to lead, summoning the courage to engage and developing the heart to serve.

Aktion Club allows adults living with disabilities to get involved in their communities. Their motto is "Where development has no disability," and they work to develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service. Their mission is to provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative, leadership skills, and to provide service to their communities.

Circle K International Circle K is the premiere college and university community service, leadership development, and friendship organization in the world. Clubs are sponsored by a Kiwanis Club on a college or university campus. Similar to Key Club, Circle K is a self-governing organization: they elect their own officers, conduct their own meetings, and determine their own service activities.

Circle K currently exists in 17 nations and holds the motto "Live to Serve, Love to Serve."

Kiwanis is an organization of service clubs headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are made up of approximately 8,600 clubs in 96 countries and have over 586,000 adult members. Kiwanis serves as a global organization of members dedicated to change the world, one child and one community at a time. They contribute greatly to the success of Key Club and other Service Leadership Partners, as they sponsor all the smaller branches of the Kiwanis Family.

Objectives Key Club aims to cooperate with school principals and teachers to provide high school students with invaluable experience in living and working together and to prepare them for useful citizenship. Our members develop initiative and leadership skills by serving their schools and communities.

FALL RALLY

Fall Rally is an annual event where KIWIN’S members from all over California gather to raise money for Pediatric Trauma with fun games and spirit battles. Members also get to attend Knotts Berry Farm afterwards at a discounted price!

AWAKE-A-THON

Another annual event is Awake-A-Thon where members try to stay awake for 12 hours straight to earn money towards the Governor’s Project, this year was World Central Kitchen. There are many fun activities to keep up energy including a talent show and fashion show.

DCON

The largest and most anticipated event of the year is District Convention! This is an annual celebration with all 9 KIWIN’S divisions coming together to end off the term with award ceremonies, educational workshops, dances, and much more. The new District Board is also elected during the three day long convention which all members get to witness. There are also multiple SPIRIT BATTLES which clubs will participate in for prizes.

What is Key Club International?

Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Key Club International is sponsored by Kiwanis International. KEY is short for Kiwanis Educated Youth. As members of the Kiwanis International Family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities.

What are the objectives of CNH KIWIN'S? To promote leadership development To cooperate with school administrators and faculty members To champion the role of service within our community To prepare for a positive, active role in society To encourage the growth and development of our peers To form meaningful and lasting relationships To nurture relationships with the Kiwanis Family

What is the difference between KIWIN’S and Key club?

In the 1900s, Key Club was an all male club while KIWIN’s was an all female club. Now, both clubs are coed.

KIWIn’S is a smaller district with its own unique history and feel.

Why is CNH KIWIN'S spelled with all caps and an apostrophe?

While some claim CNH KIWIN'S is grammatically incorrect, it is ALWAYS spelled in caps with an apostrophe. CNH KIWIN'S is not an acronym. However, it is written in all caps with the apostrophe to show its unique and individual spirit. The apostrophe is an accent to help CNH KIWIN'S standout, for it is unlike any other youth sponsored organization. When written in all caps, KIWIN'S certainly is conspicuous...this represents how CNH KIWIN'S is prominent in the school and community.

The word "Kiwin" is the diminutive of the word "Anokiwin," which translates to "people, men and women, working together in service." It is derived from the same Otchipew Indian language as Kiwanis.
