For the longest time, it was hard for me to find really high quality live music in the city on a consistent basis. Country has always been my favorite I grew up on it I honestly didn’t know where to look I had no idea there was such a sick country music scene in Los Angeles until I started my company.” Britley Red started putting on shows through her brand Westside Western in April of 2023.

Throughout coordinating her monthly showcases, she came upon the abundantly talented country scene that’s working hard to keep California country. “Every show opened up a new world of talent for me. My world just kept expanding so quick. Venues I never knew about, insanely talented artists The mission was to share all of this with country music fans in LA who were in the same position I used to be in, not really knowing where or how to find it.” A year later, she’s continued to curate classic, timeless events all around Los Angeles. Stay up to date through Instagram for the latest show announcements

KISMET DECEMBER - 2023 KISMET MAGAZINE

He was born on November 24, 1987 in small town in Serbia. From an early age he was learning and working in his grandfather's carpentry workshop. At the age of 10, during the bombing in Serbia, he used plasticine and clay to sculpt human faces.

After enrolling in high school, he participated in drawing and painting competitions several times, won first place, but always competed under someone else's name. He graduated from the Agricultural High School and enrolled in the Faculty of Agriculture He was never interested in agriculture, but it seemed more promising than art, especially in Serbia. He studied at the Faculty of Agriculture for three years, dropped out and finally enrolled at the Academy of Arts. He studied Arts in four cities, earning his living by wall painting, drawing portraits, and playing the guitar in pubs. In the next few years after graduating from the Faculty of Arts, he founded an art company. The company is called Dejan-Art and its main activity is artistic creation (original and custom-made sculptures and paintings). For years he got orders once every few months, these were usually advertising sculptures and mascots. All the sculptures were made of fiberglass

When the Corona virus pandemic started, there were no more orders, and all work was cancelled. In the absence of work, his wife came up with the idea to sell original artworks online. They started posting original drawings and paintings on several art-selling sites, which was not successful until they opened an Instagram account. Due to lockdown, he could not obtain the materials he normally used for sculpting, so he began to create original sculptures using wood as the only available material. His wife and him divided the work so that he does the sculpting, and she does the social media This has taken their business to the next level and they started selling original sculptures

Sculptures that he made in the beginning were wooden face sculptures, usually with screaming expressions or they were decaying skulls. Also, he made lots of animal sculptures: ravens, bulls, and eventually horse sculptures.

Right now, they have over 100k followers, almost all sculptures are sold out and there is a wait list with ordered horse sculptures that is getting close to one year period.

Leather….. there’s no substitute.

Catching the likes of some famous celebrities like Reba McEntire, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and Jessie James Decker, California based brand Western & Co. believes in quality over quantity and sets out to design ready-to-wear western leather jackets and accessories to be in a league of their own.

It all started with a jacket – or should we say, without one. A lifelong lover of vintage, founder and designer Hailey Nelson was on a mission to find the perfect leather jacket: well-made, modern with a flattering silhouette, and of course, made of real leather. But search as she did, she just couldn’t find “the one.” So, as the old story goes, she designed it herself. Here at Western & Co., we try and set our work a part by making it as high end as possible. The resurgence of western in mainstream fashion brings a sense of nostalgia, glamour and curiosity for those not living the lifestyle making them want to be apart of it. We're reinventing the wheel for western leather fashion and believe it should be in everyones closet

In early March, the Hoofbeats Are My Melody nonprofit art center and Romo Training Stables hosted Ranch Nights. At this event were four distinct beverages generously donated by innovative companies, each embodying a unique ethos of taste, adventure, and wellness

First up on the tasting menu was HOP WTR – a creation born from the adventurous spirit of its founders, Jordan Bass and Nick Taranto. Inspired by their love for outdoor escapades in sunny Southern California, they sought to redefine the post-adventure ritual without the foggy aftermath of traditional beer. After months of experimentation, HOP WTR emerged: a non-alcoholic brew infused with the essence of hops, promising the satisfaction of a cold one without the morning-after woes.

Next on the lineup was June Shine, a revelation born from a simple question in a grocery store aisle: Why do we know so much about the food we eat, but not the alcohol we drink? Crafted in San Diego with real, premium ingredients, JuneShine offers an alternative to traditional alcohol that's both delicious and sustainable.

For those seeking a crisp and refreshing option, Easy Rider delivered with its light and crushable American lager. Brewed with only four ingredients – hops, barley, water, and yeast – Easy Rider embodies true transparency and simplicity. But their commitment to community goes beyond brewing beer; through the Everyday Americans Foundation, Easy Rider gives back to local heroes and first responders, embodying the spirit of gratitude and service

Lastly, guests indulged in a sip of Leisure, a premium blend of natural electrolytes, essential vitamins, and moodenhancing nutrients. With 700mg of electrolytes sourced naturally, along with stress-reducing magnesium, energizing B vitamins, and calming L-Theanine and Ashwagandha, Leisure provided a moment of rejuvenation for both mind and body.

Working in pencil, pastel and paint, I create life-like artworks that centre upon the living creature. Bringing together a fascination with the animal kingdom and a natural leaning towards realistic art I enjoy exploring a diverse range of subjects and my detailed work aims to celebrate every inch of their individual characteristics and natural beauty, bringing them to life on canvas.

Having soaked up everything art related at school I followed a marketing direction at university and throughout my working life. I lived and worked in Canada for a year and went on to work for a publisher of beautiful mind, body and spirit books. After having my children I rediscovered my passion for drawing animals and the hobby quickly turned in to a full time job.

I work from my studio at home in Berkshire, England where I live with my husband, two sons and our many pets. When I’m away from my easel you will find me walking our dogs in the countryside, performing taxi duties for our teenage sons, or more likely eating! I feel so lucky to have rediscovered my passion and since starting professionally in 2016 I have worked on many wildlife and pet artworks and I am enjoying every minute.

Fortune To Bear

Tend the fire for the stove

I’m going out in the cold for a bit

Burn the letters that I wrote

If it helps you to forget

But when all the snow melts

I’ll get back there to tend to your wounds

Sure as sun chases the moon

I’ll be back there soon

You won’t always have to be so cold there

Snowdops have gotta bloom somewhere

What a fortune to bear

Growing up making notches on the wall

So when I get to you darling

I’ll be grown enough to handle it all

Well I’ll love you till I’m a man deserving to be

By your side honey

When the winter gives way to spring

You won’t always have to be so cold there

Snowdops have gotta bloom somewhere

What a fortune to bear
