Gravestone Topics: Tombstone Rubbings

Learn about different types of psychic abilities, and mediumship, and their interesting and dramatic history in western society. You’ll discuss with a paranormal researcher if those people on TV are “for real”, and how science is working to study people with these abilities. You will also be given the opportunity to talk to people first hand who live in this intriguing way every day, as well as learn different ways in which to enhance your own intuitive abilities.

Learn about how and when to make tombstone rubbings. This class will cover cemetery etiquette, when not to make a rubbing of a tombstone, what supplies you need, and proper techniques. Grave Topics: Cemetery History and Tombstone Symbolism Cemeteries are fantastic open air museums that teach us about the past and provide beautiful examples of art and sculpture. In this class we will examine the history of ancient and modern cemeteries, gravestone art, and symbolism from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. We will look at what gravestones can tell us about attitudes towards death and dying, and how they have changed over time by looking at inscriptions, epitaphs, motifs, and morphologies. RECREATIONAL VEHICLES Moped Rider Education Get ready to ride your moped! Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) requires a person at least 14 years of age that does not have a driver’s license to complete an approved moped rider education course. This class will cover safety, rules of the road and laws governing mopeds. There will also be discussions on rider responsibility, safety checks for the rider and moped, and rider scenarios.
