DREAM WITHOUT LIMITS

2023-2024

Dreaming without limits means not stopping. Keep going and live your dreams. Never stop grinding and never let someone push you down. Always get back up and face your fears.”
- Jahsir, 5th Grade

A LETTER FROM OUR CEO

Dear KIPP Philadelphia Supporters,

As KIPP Philadelphia begins its second decade, I am filled with both pride and anticipation for the future we are building together. Reflecting on our journey, our purpose has remained steadfast: to empower students to dream without limits and navigate a life of their own design. The past few years have tested the strength of our community in many ways. Educators, families, and supporters have worn multiple hats, adapted to new realities, and, most importantly, worked tirelessly to ensure that our students—now over 3,000 strong—continue to thrive. Through every challenge, we have remained united by our shared belief that every child deserves access to a limitless future.

Thanks to your unwavering support, we have broken down barriers to ensure our students and alumni have the resources they need to succeed. We’ve provided the technological, financial, and emotional support for our students to overcome obstacles and continue moving forward. I am deeply grateful for your continued commitment to this work.

As we look ahead, I am hopeful for what’s to come. While the effects of the past few years will continue to shape our students, we are not only focused on addressing the current needs but also on creating a future where every child can achieve their fullest potential. By 2030, we plan to expand our reach to serve more than 4,000 students across Philadelphia. This ambitious vision is only possible with the commitment of school partners, community advocates, and supporters like you. Together, we will continue to improve the school experience and outcomes for every child at KIPP Philadelphia.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support makes all the difference, and together, we are creating a future that knows no limits.

Sincerely,

MISSION

STUDENT STORY

JAHSIR’S JOURNEY

Jahsir grew up on Parkside Avenue with his mom and grandmother. He recalls, “I tried to go to KIPP when I was 4, but I had to wait until I was 5 because my birthday is in September.” Now living in North Philly, Jahsir takes the trolley and bus to school. Though his commute to KIPP West Philadelphia Elementary Academy, where he attended kindergarten through fourth grade, was much shorter, he believes continuing his education at KIPP West Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School is worth it.

Every Monday and Wednesday,

I have muffins with my mom . I wake up at 7:30 and get on the bus.

As the oldest of four children, Jahsir takes pride in being a role model. He has two younger sisters and a brother, and in his words, “It feels good to be the oldest.” He hopes to set a positive example for his siblings and future KIPPsters.

Jahsir feels a deep connection to KIPP and still remembers all of his teachers by name from the six years he’s been enrolled. He’s grateful for the lessons they’ve taught him and the support they’ve given. Special moments, like when everyone clapped as he performed a dance at a school event, stand out in his memories.

“Everyone here is my friend and we still talk. We’re in 5th grade now. I can’t believe that!” His friends, many of whom he’s known since kindergarten, always check in on him, ask if he needs help or remind him to complete his work.

Jahsir and his friends at KIPP.

For Jahsir, dreaming without limits means one day becoming a doctor and making his mom and grandmother proud.

My dream is to get a house, make sure my mom is okay, and have a good life .

This year, he’s excited to take the PSSA state test because, in his own words, “I feel confident and know I’ll learn everything I need to know.” Jahsir credits his confidence to his strong support system of family, teachers, and past and present principals. “Dreaming without limits means never stopping. Keep going, live your dreams, and never let anyone push you down. Always get back up and face your fears.”
