TOGETHER, A FUTURE WITHOUT LIMITS
A leading college preparatory high school in the heart of DC’s Washington Highland’s Neighborhood
“The students of Legacy College Prep are the leaders of tomorrow. It is humbling to watch them grow and learn more about themselves and our world during their time in high school.”
Shannon

At LCP, we prepare students to live choice-filled lives by providing safe, relevant, rigorous, and joyful learning experiences, supported by an inclusive and welcoming school community. We equip students with the intellectual, emotional, social skills, and resources necessary to become global agents of change.
The confident pursuit of highest quality when you believe in what you are doing and that its value warrants your persistent commitment.
The ability to clarify one ’ s intentions and goals, identify necessary actions to achieve those goals, and use available resources to accomplish them.
We act with fairness toward each other. We get involved when members of the community are in trouble and need help. We work to improve our community and the world.
At KIPP DC, we believe in the power of education to provide choice and opportunity. With a college-going culture and support from KIPP Forward advisors, we help students and alumni thrive in college and beyond.
We aim for our students to grow as leaders and leave a mark on our school, the Ward 8 community, and the broader world.

At Legacy College Preparatory, we are dedicated to fostering every student's success through a holistic approach that prioritizes growth, academic excellence, and preparation for college and careers. This journey begins in 9th grade, where we lay a strong foundation for lifelong achievement.
With so much to navigate, we work hard to ensure that every 9th grader receives personalized support and guidance from our dedicated team of counselors and advisors, providing everything new Bulldogs need for a successful start at LCP.

Beginning in 9th grade, Legacy’s Honors program challenges students with a rigorous curriculum, preparing them for advanced classes and a successful post-high school experience.
College counseling begins freshman year, guiding students to maintain strong GPAs and engage in extracurriculars.
Students can join summer pre-college programs, attend college tours, and participate in career fairs, while juniors and seniors work closely with counselors to navigate college applications, scholarships, and career exploration.
Our collaboration with the University of the District of Columbia allows seniors to experience college-level courses at no cost. Advanced Placement classes and the NAF Academy of IT provide additional avenues for college preparation.
The NAF Academy aims to prepare high school students to be future ready through a rigorous, career-focused curriculum. Students gain real-world experience through work-based learning and engagement opportunities with business professionals—setting the stage for college success and rewarding careers.
Our practices align with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, providing special education students with tailored support through co-taught and small group classes. Students are fully integrated into our community, while the Legacy Learning Center offers intensive, specialized support to meet unique needs.
During their time at LCP students choose from a wide range of visual and performing arts classes and programming ranging from hip hop and ballet, musical theater, digital media, art, sculpture, and more. Arts classes incorporate showcase events and experiential learning opportunities as part of the curriculum.
