At KCP we believe that “college prep means college prep” - we seek to prepare students for success in college, career and beyond. KCP’s engaging and challenging coursework, arts programming, language studies, competitive athletics and extracurricular opportunities allow students to explore their passions and talents as they get ready for their very bright futures.”

KIPP DC College Prep is an equitable, diverse, and affirming learning community. We equip students to develop the 21stcentury skills necessary to pursue college, career, and choicefilled lives.
We build a community rooted in deep connections & high aspirations.
We are motivated by what we don’t know and excited by the chance to find answers.
We overcome obstacles by finding a way or make one.
We strive for the highest standard in all that we do.
At KIPP DC, we believe in the power of education to provide choice and opportunity. With a college-going culture and support from KIPP Forward advisors, we help students and alumni thrive in college and beyond.
At KIPP DC College Preparatory, we work to create a school that prepares every student for success in college or a career.
Beginning in 9th grade, students can take advanced academic curriculum, fostering success in AP and Dual Enrollment classes, and nurturing diverse talents as students prepare to apply to and enroll in competitive, selective universities.
College counseling starts freshman year, ensuring every student has a four-year plan. Our team holds "Panther Pathway" meetings with students and families, while junior and senior seminars offer personalized support for college applications, scholarships, and career exploration.
KCP partners with Trinity Washington University and the Advanced Technical Center (ATC) to provide upperclassmen opportunities to take college-level courses, earning credits and valuable experience.
Our business-focused NAF Academy starts in 10th grade, guiding students through careers in finance, entrepreneurship, business management, IT, and more. The program includes internships, work experience, and certification opportunities in Adobe Photoshop or QuickBooks. Last summer, 80% of NAF juniors completed internships.
Inclusive education at KCP aligns with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, providing special education students, a tailored curriculum in co-taught and small group classes, along with full integration within our school community.
At KCP learning extends far beyond the classroom. The KCP student experience supports academic success, extracurricular interests and personal growth. We offer over 50 clubs and activities, with the goal of every student finding spaces where they can thrive whether through sports, theater, leadership opportunities, or even starting their own club.
With so much to navigate, we work hard to ensure that every 9th grader receives personalized support and guidance from our dedicated team of counselors and advisors, providing everything new Panthers need for a successful start at KCP.

“KCP has been a second home to me for 3 years and I am proud to be able to say that I attend there. The opportunities that KCP offers gives me an insight into what I want to do when I graduate and how I can achieve them. I am proud to be a KCP student and prouder to call the people there my family.”
