A message from the Mayor
We’re excited to introduce the Kingston Arts program for the second half of 2023.
From song and dance to exhibitions and cinema, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few highlights of what’s coming up.
In July, we’ll open Kingston City Hall as part of Open House Melbourne. You’ll get an opportunity to explore the venue, enjoy kids activities, and we’ll show off our 1928 Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ. Later that day our famous Pop-Up Bar is back outside Kingston City Hall with a winter evening of great food, drinks and live music to warm you up.
Just before the AFL Grand Final in September, you’ll get a chance to learn some footy history from Up There Cazaly, a musical about how a 1979 song evolved from the Armstrong Studios to become the unofficial AFL anthem and one of the best-selling Australian singles.
During the September school holidays we’re launching Kaleidoscope, an enriching school holiday program full of entertainment-focused workshops hosted by industry professionals. In October, prepare to be moved and entertained in equal measure by Double Feature, a live comedy performance from Damian Callinan, inspired by the surprise discovery of his mother’s 1946 diary, leading you on a cinematic romp through post-war Melbourne.
In December, we’ll wrap up the year with two holiday concerts. Morning Melodies will feature Melissa Langton and Mark Jones at Kingston City Hall for a festive sing-along.
We’re also welcoming back Dolly Diamond with a seven-piece band and special guests, for an evening of holiday cheer. With plenty of bawdy wit, it will be the funniest Christmas party in town.
Please read on for details about these and other Kingston Arts events in the second half of the year and make sure you also sign up to the Kingston Arts newsletter and follow us on Instagram and Facebook to be the first to hear about all our latest updates and events.
