Toddlers Timetable Be ready for the Rugby World Cup! This year the Rugby World Cup takes place in New Zealand and rugby fever is already hotting up as we prepare for September.

Rugbytots is the first UK rugby specific play programme for young children, aimed at both boys and girls. A weekly play session for children between the ages of 2 and 7 years, it was started by rugby playing parents and teachers; combining the multiple skills used in rugby, and other sports, with a fun, enthusiastic and energetic play programme. What’s On Successful first event of new community site for mums with ambition Along with this, when going back, many women struggle with a lack of confidence in their work skills. This is only natural as looking after children requires an entirely different set of skills, energy and pace than most work environments. Both community web sites, are aimed at helping mums stay sane in this transition.

Mums looking for support when going back to work can now join a new community site launched in Richmond by professional facilitator Inge Woudstra from Mum & Career (www.mumandcareer.co.uk) Their first event was held at the Teddington Arms.

There was no talk about babies, breastfeeding or schools but instead mums talked about future career options, job sharing, or opting in and out of work.

The event was set up by community websites in Richmond Borough, www.forsanityssake.com, which informs parents about activities and events for bumps to pre-schoolers on an easy, up-to-date calendar and www.mumandcareer.co.uk, which offers guidance and inspiration to mums with ambition.

Inge Woudstra comments: ‘There is no easy answer on how best to combine career and children, you have to work it out for yourself, starting by knowing why you want to work. When you are clear what you want to get out of it, it becomes much easier to live with a tough day at work, missing your child or feelings of guilt.’

Going back to work after a maternity leave or a career break has to be one of the toughest times for a mum, both emotionally and practically. It’s hard on the heart strings and tough to keep the pace.

A mum who is a Director within the Health Service who attended the session, said: “I am going back two days a week after maternity leave. Listening to others made me gain clarity about my own feelings and position.

It was great to hear so many different ways of thinking about combining motherhood and career.”

A former head in Sales and Marketing said, ‘I have a young baby and have just resigned as my job involved long hours and a long commute. It is pretty scary. Today was really good to get the brain juices flowing again.’

SEE THEM BALANCE SEE THEM BEAM, AT THE LITTLE GYM The Little Gym runs weekly, curriculum-based, gymnastics classes for children from 4 months to 12 years of age. The gym provides a safe, colourful haven where children can gain confidence in a non-competitive environment, with close guidance and encouragement from highly trained and friendly instructors.

Our tailored classes help children get the most from every stage of their development; they promote co-ordination, balance, rhythm and flexibility, as well as an opportunity to let off steam, make new friends and have lots of FUN! Our classes allow each child to grow their skills at their own pace. They combine gymnastics, music and games and provide a personalised learning experience that evolves week-by-week. Throughout the programme, parents are k keptt abreast b t off th their i child’s individual progress. Whilst grown-ups accompany the under 3’s, parents of older children can spectate from a comfortable viewing lobby.

We offer a free introductory class, so that parents have an opportunity to see the delight in their child, as they achieve there first Monkey Jump or Forward role. Classes are held throughout the day, all year round, so please don’t delay and give us a call at your nearest branch (see our ad on the back cover for more information).
