We are delighted that you have chosen to be part of our school community in September.
You are in for a great experience and a wonderful education. Whether you are into your music, sport, the creative arts or academic study (or a combination of them all), you will not be disappointed. And with so much on offer, as well as extending the skills you already have, who knows, you may discover a new talent or passion along the way. So much excitement lies ahead.
Over the next few weeks and months, it will be perfectly normal to feel a few nerves as the new school year approaches. You may be moving house, travelling to England for the first time or saying goodbye to familiar friends and school surroundings. September will be a fresh start, a chance to make new friends (who may last a life-time), settle into a new routine, try new things and rise to new challenges. It will be a time for developing confidence in your own abilities. You have been offered a place at King’s Ely because you show promise and potential. We believe in you and cannot wait to see you grow and develop.
You can be sure that the staff and students of King’s Ely will be there to support you and to give you the help you need to find your way around. Remember that no question is ever too silly to ask. You will be surprised how soon you know the answer for yourself and how quickly you will be helping others around you.
See you in September. The Admissions Team of King’s Ely
Everyone who joins the Prep School becomes a member of one of our four houses. Each House has a Head of House and house captains. You will represent your house in a programme of interhouse competitions across sport, music, drama and academic activities. You will have regular House Meetings where you join together with pupils from across the different year groups of the Prep School. It’s a great way to make friends, to set a good example and to contribute to the life of the school.
In it you will find the early doors information that you will need to start planning your child’s smooth transition to King’s Ely. There are term dates for the year ahead, information on uniform and details about minibuses, finance and other areas of day-to-day housekeeping.
There are a number of urgent tasks that you need to do as a matter of priority:
Within your Welcome Pack you will find the all-important link to My School Portal which requires IMMEDIATE action in order to complete your child’s enrolment at the school. Please be aware that when logging in, you will be asked for an email address and be required to set your password. Please select the Forgotten Password link to set up your account with something that you will remember. The school will not have knowledge of this password so will be unable to help, in the future, if you forget your unique log in.
The link appears below for ease of access. Please type it in carefully into your search bar. It is suggested that you log in within 14 days of receiving this communication. Once you have started at the school, My School Portal will be a key source of school information, of diary reminders and of news and views that are relevant to you and your child.
It is not possible for a student to start at King’s without a fully completed medical questionnaire. Our highly experienced medical team want to be able to provide the best medical attention for your child should the need arise. To do this, they need to know everything about your child’s medical history, their profile, allergies and intolerances.
Whilst you have all provided the basic medical information, there is more detail required. You will find the second part of the medical questionnaire on My School Portal alongside other forms relating to minibus transport and other aspects of school life. Please note that you must complete and submit all requested forms, even if you do not want to avail yourselves of the service on offer, for your submission to register with us.
Music is a strength of King’s Ely. As a result, a good number of students at the school are keen to enjoy individual music tuition. If you would like to register your interest in receiving lessons from one of our talented visiting music teachers, please scan the QR code alongside to register your interest. The Music Department will then be in touch with further details.
We trust that you will enjoy reading the Welcome Pack. Please remember that the Admissions team is here to help, from Your First Call to Your First Day. If you have any questions, or need help with anything, please do not hesitate to get in touch on 01353 660707 or on admissions@kingsely.org
It has been a pleasure getting to know you over the past few months. We hope that the admissions process to date has been smooth and enjoyable.
Welcome to the King’s Ely family.
