Who is this course for? This course is ideal for students who want to combine language development with specialist sports knowledge. The course includes General English lessons, alongside specialist Sports Science topics and practical sports training sessions.

English Plus Sports Science is a flexible course which allows a broad range of students to gain a different, personally tailored experience of Sport Science. Students can attend with varying previous experience and varying levels of competency in the sports discipline of their choice.

Level: Kings Level 4 (Lower Intermediate) Length: 4 weeks or 12 weeks Lessons: 28 lessons (21 hours per week), 20 language lessons per week (15 hours), 8 lessons of Sports Science per week (6 hours) Minimum age: 16 Average age range: 16 – 30 Maximum class size: 14 Learning outcomes: à Fluency in all main areas of English à Development of specialist sport knowledge à Practical sessions designed to improve students’ performance in their chosen sport
This course will improve students’ English language skills in all areas while also teaching sport specific terminology to enhance their knowledge of the science behind sport. In turn, students will improve their physical performance in their chosen discipline. By the end of the course students will receive a certificate in English and will have improved both their technical knowledge of sport and their personal performance; allowing them to further either their academic studies in sport, health and exercise or pursue a career in coaching or fitness instructing. Experience gained at Kings Bournemouth during this course will be invaluable in making future connections with top athletes and coaches in the UK and to learning new methods of training allowing students to perform at their very best.

Students will spend, on average, 3 – 5 hours a week practising their chosen sport. There will be training in the afternoons as part of the sport focus of the course, as well as the possibility of sports workshops and strength conditioning in the evenings.
