THE KING’S EXPERIENCE

King’s College is a private Catholic institution located on a small urban campus in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Born from the Holy Cross tradition of our sister institution, the University of Notre Dame, the College prides itself on our exceptional academics and engaged mentorship approach.

No matter what major you choose, you will benefit from our robust liberal arts core curriculum, developing skills that are in high demand by employers. And, unlike larger institutions, our classes are intentionally kept small to foster discussion, prioritize individual attention, and build your résumé with solid experience and opportunities.

But the value of a King’s degree doesn’t end there. As a Monarch, you will learn how to mobilize your talents to serve the common good, setting yourself apart in the hiring process after graduation.

Transferring to King’s College was a great experience. My advisor and the faculty made everything very simple and took the time to work with me, building a schedule and getting oriented to the College. I really feel like King’s is a great fit for me! My professors are very knowledgeable (and reachable!) and the class size is personal and small.

If your current school isn’t quite meeting your expectations, there’s a very good chance it never will. And it’s important you immediately feel welcomed and settled in the place you’ll be spending the next few years! Still, students wonder if it’s worth transferring. Here’s why you should consider the choice:

■ It’s easier than you think! King’s College has been ranked for the past several years on Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll, reflecting our achievement as one of the most transfer friendly colleges in the nation.

■ And you’ll have constant support through the process. From the moment you contact us through to your first day of class, you will be supported every step of the way to make sure your transfer is not only easy but also exciting. We’ll help you navigate financial aid, housing placement, and extracurriculars.

■ We have a lot of transfer-friendly majors. With more than 50 majors and programs in business, health and social sciences, the humanities, and science and technology, you’re bound to find an equivalent or even better major to study.

■ Your transfer advisor will ensure you land in the right spot. If a compatible major is selected, transferring credits from your current institution is often seamless. Your advisor will walk you through the best course sequence to ensure no classes are repeated and you graduate on time.

■ You’ll feel at home. If you haven’t visited campus, trust us; you’ll love it here. Almost every student says the friendly community they met during their visit is still just as supportive now that they’re enrolled. If you have visited before, maybe the timing just wasn’t right—we highly encourage you to come back!

■ Your professors (and staff) will genuinely know you. If you’re lacking personal attention, you’ll find it at King’s. You don’t realize at first how impactful this connection is on your education and in unlocking endless opportunities for your future career.

For those who have taken a break from school and are now eager to complete their degree, we have you covered, too. King’s College has a network of support services and empathetic faculty to help you effectively balance your coursework with your job, family commitments, and other responsibilities.

ENGAGED ACADEMICS

King’s College has many unique academic offerings that make transferring attractive, such as our dual degree engineering programs with the University of Notre Dame and Washington University in St. Louis, our five-year Physician Assistant program, or any of our accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree programs. Plus, our preprofessional programs have excellent placement rates in some of the most competitive programs—such as law, medical, dental, and chiropractic school—throughout the country. In fact, if you meet the requirements, we guarantee your placement!

Other Benefits

INTERNSHIPS: Our students complete full- and part-time internships at more than 100 organizations each year, including Disney World, CBS, Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Hockey, and Borton Lawson, giving them great hands-on experience and showing high-profile organizations what Monarchs are made of.

HANDS-ON LEARNING: Distinguishing King’s from other institutions is the practical learning you’ll have when entering the workforce. From simulation training and scientific research to black box theatres and cadaver labs, our graduates are ready to work.

STUDY ABROAD: In addition to service trips, our Office of Study Abroad coordinates semester-long placements at partner institutions and two- or three-week faculty led trips in Canada, England, France, Spain, and Sweden, to name a few!

WELLNESS: We offer a full host of services to make sure your academic pursuits are balanced with your mental and physical health. The Wellness Center features the latest in sports training technology, and you have free access to qualified, licensed mental health clinicians in our Counseling Center. There are also many opportunities to engage with Campus Ministry or access support through the Academic Skills Center.

Coming from a school where connection was not emphasized, I immediately felt the strength of the King’s community upon transferring. From the start, I was surrounded by people who cared for both my personal and academic success. This care for fellow Monarchs has carried through all my experiences at King’s, whether it be in academics, extracurriculars, or socially and has truly made it feel like a family.

MAKING THE TRANSFER HAPPEN

Requirements

To be considered a transfer, you should have completed at least one college credit after graduating from high school. As you consider transferring, it’s important to know what steps are necessary.

Complete the online application for FREE at kings.edu/apply for the fall or spring semester.

Submit your official high school or college transcripts. Acceptance is conditional upon completion of current coursework in good academic standing.

King’s will perform a transfer credit evaluation. Credit is accepted in transfer for those courses in which the student has received the equivalent of a “C” grade or better and which are applicable to the degree chosen.

Financial Aid

We go above and beyond to make our highquality education affordable and accessible to anyone who wants to attend King’s College. We start by encouraging every student to apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), regardless of their circumstances. In doing so, you’ll find out if you qualify for funds to help you pay for college, including scholarships, grants, and other aid directly from King’s College as well as grants and loans from the federal government or the state government.
